So the Town of New Hartford doesn't own the New Hartford Library? Then who does?

Who cares Cathy. Enough is enough. Take Ed out to breakfast, and then go for a nice leisurely walk on the rayhill trail. Enjoy the good life and be happy for all it brings.

No one cares abut this nonsense you keep posting over and over again.

The tax payers fund the library... The Town makes a contribution every year, which is a large part of the library's funding... That contributation is tax payer monies... So the tax payers own the library they just don't have a say in how the money is spent...

That's the problem... The taxpayers fund it but yeat they don't own it. The New Hartford "Public" Libray is a priviately own entity. It should be turned over to the town or the taxpayers should cease funding it.

I guarantee that if someone ever filed a notice of claim against the library, the town would be very quick to divulge their lack of ownership. Which raises an interesting point. If a lawsuit ever occurred, who would be the named defendants?

It doesn't look like the town wants to own the library. If its privately owned shouldn't there be a contract or a memorandum of agreement between the town and the library but neither of those documents exist. The whole thing is irregular. Either way, taxpayers shouldn't be funding Linda Romano's personal playhouse.

Only people without money problems could be so immersed in such a mundane topic as is happening in NH.
People, go count your blessings, read your books, go to the club and have a few martinis.

Only in New Hartford would the taxpayers be expected to foot the bill for a rich middle aged woman's playhouse! Hey let them read books! LOL

I have a large book collection. If I am willing to loan out my books out can I get taxpayer funding?

I can just imagine the circus upcoming when Hans, the $50K a year director retires this year and the "who's who's" of NH try and get someone special for that job.

Let the games and name calling commence.

It gets worse. Rumor has it that a Library Trustee who is tired of allvtge Reindeer games resigned from the Library Board. Linda Romano what's to replace the trustee with a gentleman as old as Jedidiah Sanger himself!

Why would the current Library (if deemed not owned by the town) be able to receive taxpayer monies to operate and run their business without formal competition (or was a sole source award provided by the town)? If either case is true, was a proposal ever submitted by the current library for the award of taxpayer monies? Is the town measuring library performance against a submitted proposal? Is money provided as a lump sum or based on milestone achievements?
Does the town of New Hartford have agreements with other private businesses in which the town provides direct funding for their day to day operations? If so, are these competitively awarded?

So who does own the library? I couldn't find anything on the town or library website. Why is it a mystery?

Has anyone asked Patrick Tyksinski? What about the Town Board? Some one should be able to answer this... If they don't have an answer, than our next question should be why is the Town making a donation every year?
