touchy subject. One thing is for sure. They are more brave than you or I. Times are tough, and every one needs money, and maybe an education. The better question is who started these wars, why, and were they correct.

It's never been about protecting the ordinary everyday inhabitants of the good ol' US of A. It's about overtaking a region for control of the natural resources. Southeast Asia (Vietnam)- tin, rubber, coal & oil. Lithium & opium (Afghanistan) Hawaii wasn't even a state until August 1959 but back in 1941 we had a naval base there (Pearl Harbor)? "The world is a business, Mister Beal" (Network - 1976) Nobody gave a flying f in a rolling donut about Ukraine until some treasure is discovered there... Now all of a sudden there's all this drama about going to war with them... All of the major news outlets, from ABC to FOX, basically say the same thing with that underlying propaganda of "We've got to go to war! Because somewhere in some arbitrary country - someone is being treated unfairly!" Isn't that amazing - we get emotionally stirred up to support "our troops" but we don't cause a fuss when we get ripped off. Maybe we should ask our troops when they come home "did they keep you busy saving lives?"

You should be ashamed to even put a post like this up you scumbag. You enjoy freedoms in the USA that most countries dream about and then bash the warriors and soldiers that defend that freedom. Next time you have a thought keep it to yourself scumbag

Oh how funny. Please since you state you're a "real hero" what do you do? Sit around and eat donuts in an ambulance and bragging about how "heroic" you are?

Our troops are ordinary people doing extraordinary things to protect your right to say 'almost' anything you want as well as defending many other freedoms. You have the right to voice your opinion no matter how wrong you are. Maybe they aren't heroes but their service is far more valuable to our well being than anything you are doing, 'Real Hero'. While you show your ignorance on Topix a 100,000 men and women are in harm's way for you. Show some appreciation

In true Pavlovian format - whenever there's a win, score or touchdown - they cut to the camera that's directly on the troops at the game. This way, the people watching on the screen make a mental equation with "troops" and "win" Yes, the science experiment goes further than just ringing a bell and watching dogs drool. And then there's the typical old worn out response of "How dare you say that! You enjoy freedoms that others dream of, I'm a red blooded American, blah blah" Wow, I wonder what Sunday dinner at your house sounds like: full of interesting conversations or "Shuddup - the game's on!"

Many ARE in harm's way daily whether fighting or training. It's all real and a lot is dangerous. If you're argument is that they are there for other reasons than to protect and defend us you may have a point to some degree. We can all take our guess what the 'real' motives are but the soldier or airman, man or woman standing on point are all in harm's way at one time or another. They are also proud to do it and maybe you think they are stupid. They think they are doing it for you as well as their mom and dad, wife and kids or whatever the case may be. It is an honor to put on the uniform and represent your country and train everyday even with the thought in the back of your mind you may get wounded or worse. The soldier puts the uniform on every day for us. Disagree with those who put them there but please don't disrespect our servicemen and women.

You are all full of shit. Look at the facts. How are our troops fighting other countries civil wars helping anyone other than American Big Oil and other War based industries. They are not worth one drop of American blood. Fighting these wars do not make our troops heroes. Why do you think the rest of the world hates us so much.
If it wasn't for big oil you moron you'd be wiping your worthless asz by candle light you f*ck. And you'd be sending out smoke signals instead of using the internet you idiot.

I served on Viet -Nam and I didn't consider myself a hero while there. I didn't agree with the war but was drafted. I'm lucky to be alive and I hate seeing this happen all over again.

Hey, we agree on something:) Vietnam was a cesspool and if our troops are deployed anywhere it should be for the right reasons. I don't know how much 'goes on behind closed doors' or how much 'liberty' those making the decisions take. There is a lot more scrutiny today than there was back in the 60s-70s so I think it would be difficult for anyone to order troops deployed without regard to their safety or without 'right' reasons. Anyway, it's the soldier who is the monkey in the middle of this conversation. I don't like that they are there either by the way

If they weren't murdering thief's lining there pockets, there would still be Oil and we would still have power. Probably be cheaper if there thief hands weren't in it.
Maybe if there wasn't Oil, we would have developed better solar energy and windmills, and the pollution would be a 1/100 of what it is today.
Let me know if you were able to understand this without the use of a crayon.
Where do u think the power comes from to build solar panels & windmills? The sun god? Or dothey miraculously build themselves? Can YOU grasp that or should I explain it to you in baby talk?

The military is a volunteer service. Everyone that entered the military knewthere was a war in Iraq and Afganistan . It is a job just like being a cop, prison guard, fireman, etc. Now they are all heroes. Okay but Iraq and Afganistan has done nothing for me, and I have not benefitted from them wars. So how do those wars make me safe.

Shove it your fat flat flaccidAsshole and puff it up loser. There is NO COMPARISON to warfighters and the phony pubic servant class ---- Phony cops and firemen aren't even in the top 10 most dangerous list from the USDoL moron. Soldiers sacrifice and get paid almost nothing to support you cowards. Also soldiers have NOWHERE NEAR the disgraceful record of raping and murdering people that cops currently do. They made their reputation of today so quit trying to pretend they are anywhere NEAR as honorable as servicemen and women. So shove all that bullshit in yourASs and go have a twirl hater.

You are a veteran, and are posting this shit ? You should get your head examined, maybe you have mental issues. I served overseas, during a conflict in the 80's... I didn't choose to go there, but I signed up to defend our country... I go where they tell me to. Hero ? Maybe not... but I saw good people die. When you take the oath, you do what you are told. Maybe our gov't is wrong from time to time ( more so lately), but you still take an oath. If you ever said to my face that the guys I served with were not heroes, I would drop you where you stand... and probably put you in the hospital. You should be ashamed to have ever worm the uniform !! You are truly a piece of shit. Maybe you are at a crossroad with what you served for, and why you did it... but again, YOU SIGNED ON !!! Comes with the territory. If you hate our gov't .. fine. But don't EVER blame the troops !! If you are a local boy... which I am assuming you are by visiting Utica topix, you can meet me any time to discuss our differences of opinion. Name the time and place....
Signed: Ex military, and PROUD OF IT 100%
P.S. My dad served in Korea, and he is still proud of it, regardless of the reason, cause, or end result. Proud to be an American....

I want to say THANK YOU for defending our country when you were in Viet-Nam. While you may not consider yourself a hero, I do. Weather you were drafted or went voluntarily, you still put yourself in arms way and for that you and all the other veterans deserve our thanks and admiration. God bless all of you.
