Years ago when I was in high school, talking late 80s.There was this story always going around about a chair bolted to the headstone of the grave of a supposed witch.Several times a group of us would go and look for it, everyone always said it was the star hill, potatoe hill Steuben, Remsen area.....
Anyway I can't be the only one that remembers this story... Something about a curse and every 7th person to sit on the chair dies within 7 years...

Love to hear some other versions to the story, and if that chair ever really existed....

yes, the chair existed!! i think the cemetery was on rt. 46, not far past delta! could be wrong about that though! the story i always heard, was whomever sat in it, died within a year. i started to sit in it one one night, late 80's, but never fully sat before a friend pushed me out. i was shot a little under a year later, almost died, and have been in a wheelchair since! true story! though i don't know if they were connected, freaky none the less!

No, no no. Now just leave it be and forget about it. We dont need no one digging up the past. And dont you people go tresspassing on other peoples property trying to find some legend. People dont like it. There aint nothing to be found there, you hear.

the ghost story is false.

metzler hill road tannery brook road along with boody hill road is probably where the zinicolieas are!?

The chair was Carved by Jacob Booty(sp). There are many of his carvings in the area. From what I've heard he was an eccentric, almost hermit-like individual. As a note there still is a kook up there named Bobby Smith. He's a former employee with the hatchery system and gets his jollies terrorizing people, and using the Booty hill legend to his advantage.. One thing though is he did have a neat collection of old Lind tractors.

Yes! Carmichael Hill cemetary. In the 80's in high school the rumor we heard was that if u sit in it you will die within 2 years. So of course my friends and I cked it out. I sat in it and I'm still alive and kicking at the age of 51. I guess it's not there anymore. There's a video on YouTube of where it used to be. Still would love to know the history of it. Ha. The good ole days!

I sat in that chair in the 80's. It was definitely not carved. It was a very simple small metal rocking chair bolted down.

There used to be some brothers ( Herkawitz - Yes, I spelled it wrong-sorry) they use to wait till the RCH boy's came up at night and beat them up for messing around with the chair. I think there Dad took care of the place, they lived right up the road.
