The grandstanding the DEA and DA do on grow operations alone like this "big bust" is proof of how bad they want to be seen as worth the costs. It isn't. There are other operations around that are bigger NY is limited in how some of them can make good $$ they are not going to stop it a lot of people I know make ends meet growing and do it much more discreet than in a barn. I get around in Canada and up toward north country this is not just a lone deal the joblessness is making these farmers buy the rigs and do it. It should be a cash crop for the whole state to enjoy but no some short sighted public sector mentality people need paychecks. The times are changing I agree people need to start speaking out about the priorities people are jobless homeless and starving I wonder what the big publicity show costs us? I know I know THAT'S a big super secret. Instead look at the pictures they gave of pot don't worry about the cost right? Right? What about the cost of the destroyed families now? Right? Things need to change.

If anything a national vote should be forced to stop the Fed from doing this it isn't like the federal government employees anywhere from Obama and Congress on down to the drones they hire to shoot americans and boot doors know any fkng thing about any of the OTHER sht they have their greedy dirty fingers in. People need to start complaining about bullsht like this a lot more loudly and tell the jackboots to shut the fk up with activism and voting. This isn't worth the price just so a few uncreative losers can have 9-5s and a pension anymore it's about the livelihood of this state and this country.

<quoted text>I'm starting to wonder if people should protest this and how that could be done? This is too stupid a bunch of idiots riding around in giant helicopters on everyone's dime and waking up the city for a bust they could have sent 5 cops to. Also look at how the DEA leaked photos out of the bust showing its just a bunch of seedlings many die anyway. Something is wrong with these people they want it in your face too badly. This is pathetic I hope this guys friends and community support him and start a dialogue about how tyranny like this must stop. I have no grudge against any police and was raised to respect them but for the last few years the police are not the police I remember this is like a bunch of wanabees trying to look like they're accomplishing something when its a farmer growing plants. This has to stop no matter what it takes.
They'd need support form forward thinking politicians but there are almost none to be found. They'll never admit it's just for publicity and jobs they will just be forced by shrinking budgets to go away and stfu. "Law Enforcement" has been New Yorks ONLY growth industry of note for the last 10 years.

<quoted text>Heroin and meth are destroying lives and communities in the Mohawk Valley and across upstate NY. Yes, there have been some heroin busts recently in Utica, but the resources used for busting this 'operation' might better have been used trying to curb the use of drugs that are making zombies out of people, and in some cases killing them. Drive through some farm towns like Richfield these days and look at the young people skulking around in hoodies; there are many who are now hooked on addictive drugs, and some are dying. In most cases, marijuana is NOT a gateway drug. Whether people are using it for medical purposes or recreational use, it does not, in most cases ruin lives like alcohol can. How many guys smoke some weed and then beat up their wives? They are more likely to fall asleep watching Adult Swim with a half eaten back of Doritos at their side. It might not be great for your lungs, but there's no question alcohol is overall much worse for your health if you drink a lot of it regularly.

The percentage of Americans who would support legalization is rapidly increasing, yet at a time when we can't fund child care and grants for college students, we are employing whole battalions of people armed to the teeth going around busting a bunch of corn fed dope growers, like they are really a menace to society. I don't care too much for Ron Paul, but on this issue he is right on.
I'm surprised you don't care much for Ron Paul. Everything you point out is from his platform. The guy is right up there in the polls because people are sick and tired of what our government is doing. They are constantly messing with people's lives by creating obstacles.

I agree. What you have are federal incentive programs that allow the states voluntary participation. Unfortunately, these incentives become an addiction for some states. That is when laws get passed that are often in direct violation of our United States Constitution. The issue then becomes one of jurisdiction. Before long you have judges who are scared to render rulings that are in accordance with the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Instead they capitulate and cave into political pressure which is dictated by money and special interests. It's very sad!

No this dumb fkn sht needs to stop EVERYWHERE. It's nonsense and anyone who points it out is attacked because the people that would lose their jobs are loud and stupid and stand together and put anyone who challenges their "authority" on suspicion it's an old game that has served them well for a generation now. How do you think so many of them got to be so portly? Ever seen a cop who's been on the beat more than 5 years under 270 pounds that could run? Me either.

What's to say this Leitz kid wasn't busted with dope in his car and turned by the Feds?
Pot is less harmful than alcohol yet it remains illegal. Most of these gung ho DEA agents would never be able to hold down jobs in the real world. they play weekend warrior tearing down farm fields. I mean look at what they brought down for ONE bust in the sticks of Frankfort. Armored cars, machine guns and a helicopter. The operation alone cost more than the street value of the crops they seized.
The War on Drugs has been a failure like Prohibition was. It has become the government's way of employing friends and family. If they aren't employing DEA agents, then they are employing prison guards. it is all a rat race toward a police state.
You really think it cost more than 9 million dollars for that raid lol. Street value of a plant is between 2500-3500

Retard, there wasn't a single plant in that raid over 3 feet tall. 80% look like 6" seedlings. Good luck with that "9 million" figure as if anyone believes what the "DEA" says anyway aren't they still busy selling automatic weapons to Mexican druglords and killing babies or have the learned to multitask?
You people need to just stop with your retarded claims of grandeur you blow holes in your own credibility every day as it is how much more do you think your credibilty and "War on Drugs" bullsht is going to stretch? Get a real producing job losers stop ripping of people's farms and wondering why the only people who don't hate you are the ones you feed with your public welfare job check.

The street value numbers that Law Enforcement puts out are bullshit and they know it. It is just that suckers like you eat it up and it helps justify keeping them going. What does a helicopter cost? How much does and armored vehicle cost? How much does it cost an hour to fly the chopper? How much in wages are paid each year to these drug warriors? How much does it cost a year to house and inmate? How many years will be served for this crime? How much will we pay in bloated retirement benefits 40 years and beyond from now for these warriors? If you answer all of these questions you may rethink whether or not it is worth your tax money to spend on a marijuana war that has not decreased usage. Meanwhile a much more dangerous threat is painkillers, which there is no shortage of, and are highly addictive and destroying many more lives. But thats ok bcause pharmacueticals pay their bribes to politicians.

You people don't know what you are talking about. When a pot high driver has an accident and kills someone it is different then a person drunk. Pot should be legal, look at me, it has not affected my brain. It is not my fault I keep getting fired, those people don't understand that I can work and smoke weed at the same time. It only happened one time when my work partner lost a arm. That was an accident, I just took a toke and was trying to hold it in when the accident happened. AND, my wife and kids left, but not because I was always toking on a joint, it was because the smoke caused the kids to get sick

That's true Tom. Recently a study detailed that pot usage has now reached 1981 levels which means it's not going anywhere. These nolife drug warrior punks and their costumes need to go get real jobs and stop thinking everyone calls them americans because just they do. This is a democracy founded on sudden unpredictable uncontrolled explosive violence remember. Things have gotten faster and wilder since then too.

For the record the decrepit Bell 412 "Twin Huey" which I believe they used exceeds $3000 an hour to operate. Tellingly, most nations and states have rid themselves of the hueys and 412 variants for just that reason. Bell is having a hard time pushing them out the door. Not the "DEA"! Apparently they feel it's cheap enough to use in lieu of cars!

seriously.....with the COKE/HERION/CRACK problems we have in this city....a little bit of plant people get upset about?

Im against drugs in every way......but big whoop.....i've never seen a pot head go and rob someone for a fix.....or broken into a house to steal and then go by more marijuana.......but i know a few coke heads and crack heads that have.

Glad to see the drugs off the streets....but i'd much rather see a bust with major kilos or whatever of harder drugs than pot.

No the federal government has taken to helping ARM the kilo producers with "Fast & Furious" automatic weapons by the thousands and lying to Congress about it.[notice they always have these "action movie" nicknames for everything they do!]. They're "friends" now with the drug dealers even if the director had to resign for being publically exposed as a "Thin Blue Line" bullsht artists trying to protect scumbag out of control federal welfare jobs employees.

Stoooopid! Ever notice how the "pro drug war" people have to reach for infantile half-facts and pretend assumptions?

Meanwhile the stupid defensive LEOtard that wrote this probably drives drunk 2x a week and beats his wife like New Hartford cop Christopher Burns.

Talk about needing a brain! Pot is legal in several states and the fed stays out of it despite the glaring contradiction. I worked setting up legal 54' grow vans in Northern Ca for money and guess what? It was legal they make and sell entire LED outfitted grow trucks as a business now. The fed is going to have to kiss this gravy train goodbye probably within the next administration after they get rid of ding dong obama.

What will you criminalize to justify your heavily padded welfare-job roles now hmmm? Alcohol again? Oh wait you tried that one shucks!
