I have been approached by this scam a few times and basically threw the sales guy out of my business and a family member also go involved too, but I don't bother with it.

Not a scam. Had a friend in Ambit ask me to switch to Ambit about a year ago, and I'm glad I did. He told me they were guaranteed to be less than National Grid, and he was right. I'm saving on average $32/month. For years National Grid had a monopoly, and we had no choice but pay their rates. Now that we have a choice, we should all be shopping around for the best deal. From experience, I can confidently say they are a worthwhile alternative to National Grid. Hope this helps.

I looked into these types of companies. Not sure of all correct wording but according to national grids website their delivery rates per. Therm fluctuate monthly, these other companies have a fixed monthly rate, but their fixed rates are about as high as national grids highest three months (winter) . So from what I looked at it actually will cost u more for the entire year to switch. Just look for yourself on their sites.

Not to get into a pissing match here, but I went to National Grid's website, and did not see anything about other companies having fixed rates. Maybe I did not look close enough, but I did click the icon for energy choices. The entire list of companies licensed to supply energy in NYS is there. Being a customer of Ambit, I clicked on them. For the first 2 months they guarantee to be approximately 7% less than National Grid. After that they guarantee to be at least 1% lower annually, or they will mail you a check for the difference. I also went to the better business bureaus website, and found National Grid does not have accreditation with the bbb, and they are rated F. Ambit does have accreditation with the bbb, and are rated A. I do not believe a company that is a "scam" would have a rating of A. If you do not want to do business with Ambit, that is your choice and it doesn't matter to me. I can only say that I am a totally satisfied customer who is saving money.

I switched to them and have no complaints. I actually got two checks from Ambit, one for gas and one for electric because thier rates over a one year period were not lower than National Grid. so they refunded me.

I heard some bad things about these companies. Now, I hate National Greed too but am wary about switching. I heard that when you switch to another company that you have to sign a year contract... and after a couple months, the rates are raised. So they got you where they want you.

The only way I would even think about switching was if a friend or family member switched and I saw their bill 6 months after they switched over. So that I am able to see if there are any real savings or if its a scam.

Aint that amazing how those who promote it "SAY" that it worked for them... They even have a webpage you can read over.. But they never scan / copy or PDF their bills to PROVE ambit works...
"Oh it only costs $399 to join the plan...and an optional webpage (they'll call it your own website - www.suckerborneveryminute.ambitenergy.com ) www.your_name_here.ambitenergy .com or www.blow_it_out_your_ass.ambit energy.com) which costs $19.99 a month - so that's about $639 you just spent after a year on that plan w/ webpage.
I'm sorry to say this but usually the ones who promote this are 'shepherds'... By that I mean the very very polite, socially acceptable, pleasant to be around types, never a harsh word etc... They live by the 'what you say is what you are, so if you say only positive words, you'll reap positive rewards'... Yeah, see where I'm getting to? Ambit targets these 'shepherds' to fleece more of a flock. But mark my words: the day I give out $639 to a scheme in hopes I save money on an energy bill is the day I crawl on all fours, eating grass in a field, and uttering 'baa-a-a-aa'

According to nat grid they make no profit on the actual product gas and electric. theymake there money on the delivery charge. So Nat grid has to seel the electric and gas for what they buy it for.. so with 3 million gas and electric customers in the USA how can these startups sell for cheaper than nat grid. The rules of economics don't work. Look at Walmart there prices are lower because of the volume they buy.

You will get a check from Ambit for the overage plus 1% if it doesn't change, man. Hold steady. You will save! And when Ambit comes through, you'll have the perfect testimonial to share with friends and neighbors and get 15 signed on so you get free electric supply. Gee, would that be a savings, let's see, my math says 40 to 50% on your total bill. Hmm even Aldi's doesn't save you 50%. But I do love their chocolate...

All it takes is a good accountant to make it look like they make "no profit" on supply at NGrid. That's a rule of economics you're forgetting. And how about the fact that Ambit is a young company, with no load of bloated pensions and with state of the art technology systems (developed by a Utican) and a long term purchase agreement with a mega power producer. I guess facts are more accurate than hearsay. Some things that "stand to reason", fall before the facts.
