Marino got the council to vote down the budget. He and Brindisi have started their campaign to make Marino mayor next year. Let's see if Palmieri finally realizes that he's been trusting the wrong people while throwing his base supporters under the bus. And will he reach out and make amends with those that were there from day one?

Hmm..Is that how you see it? I was at the meeting and I think Marino is finally realizing that he and the mayor have a common enemy on the first floor. That's what happens when you put the city's finances in the hands of a mechanic for eight years. Man, did Morehouse make a huge mistake! Huge mstake!

I think they're doing a splendid job. I love living in the city of Utica. And am happy to pay more taxes to keep up the fine quality of life.

I don't expect anyone to give a sht but went to college here-6 years...4 at Hamilton 2 at Utica college....no friends and fam plan here for me...you see, I tried to move here, relocate here, and you uticans swiftly let me know that I am unwelcome and that if even if I got three doctorate degrees, I will always lose the job to some uneducated cousin, sister, or uncle, to somebody in power. This is why everything is a mess in this city. Top of my class with no family friends plan = leaving (actually already left).

People in power here need to know that the time has come to hire the MOST QUALIFIED individuals, and not those who think they possess magical powers, because they are related to a person of authority. I mean WTF...I was charged 240 bucks worth of parking tickets that I willingly paid because I was in the wrong, and somebody's IDIOT cousin took my check at the parking ticket window at City Hall and didn't notify the DMV that I had paid my fines (AKA "contributions"). Waited 2 hours at DMV to have to argue my case that I had paid my tickets...I mean can a city be run by bigger and more UNEDUCATED morabs than Utica???? I would live to see evidence of a more poorly run city.

I meant to say that I would truly love to see a city that is run by even bigger MORONS than this city, because then I could perhaps justify being so educated, and letting such retards (sorry cognitively impaired) people tell me that I must pay them more in taxes every year, to live in a scum hole. I mean, the excuse always is that it "could be worse."

aaahhgg...I don't mean to be rude to the nany good people who make Central New York home...it is beautiful...and to those who have good jobs, good for you! I am only stating that this city is not friendly to people trying to relocate here who are educated...and who try to deal with incompetent friend and family employees. WTF...make friends and family have the DISCIPLINE to do sh!t right!!!!!!!

I don't think that was meant as a dig at Marino. In my opinion, he is calling out Palmieri and Morehouse, and rightfully so. This was Palmieri's budget that they hammered, not Morehouse's. And it is Morehouse that is an absentee Comptroller that won't do an audit. So, Marino SHOULD run for Mayor and would win hands down.

Being able to get the council to unanimously defeat a budget is (I believe) a first in Utica's history. That shows Marino has garnered support and respect with his colleagues. My only suggestion would be that he is getting over exposed in the media and in a jealous town like this, that could backfire. Keep doing what he's doing and don't let the media over expose him and he will make a great mayor. Just my two cents.

It doesn't make sense.
The council unanimously voted against the budget knowing that if they did that the mayor's budget would be adopted anyway by default.

All the council did was put responsibility on the mayor for this budget. The truth is that by voting against it and not offering amendments that would have reduced the increase, this is their budget too. This is Marino's budget right along with all of the other members of the Common Council.

The entire Common Council are nothing more than puppets for their political bosses. All of them don't have a brain or an ounce of independance between them.
