She was a great teacher. She knew I was smart, but that I didn't apply myself. She made me stay in her class doing Math, during lunch, to get through the year. During that time, she would hang with Mr Creeden, Custedaro, Albrect, and some of the other teachers. She also taught me that it was OK to be smarter than boys........ "they thought it was sexy". I thought she was so cool.
Rosenberg used to play in The Dust Devil Band with Mr Morra? Didn't Mr Palmisano (art teacher) own Rascals bar on Layfayette???
North Utica was a really nice place in the 70"s to grow up.......

They use to have a coffee house for teens, on Herkimer Road. We use to go there a lot. It was a good place to hang out, they had a band outside once or twice a week, and a pool table. We went to the Who concert on one of our trips. That was fun.
LOL, I just posted this in the wrong forum. Hope I didn't start trouble in there, lol.
Hey Remsen, I remember that, there were 2 buses that went, were you on my bus that broke down at SPAC and we didn't get home till 8:00 the next morning? Always remember that. The crowd >23,000 at the time was the record for attendance at SPAC

I live in NU now, and having lived in all parts of Utica, except West, which I wouldnt live in, North Utica is by far the best! Its got the nicest people, very quiet, clean, and you are away from the rest of the city. I really like it... feels like you are in a little town in the country. So yes, why don't they blow up the bridge and let NU be its own city... thats the best idea I have heard in a long time! Oh, also... my house has a cellar too... and a HUGE beautiful yard... almost an acre, with a beautiful creek running right through it.:)

I DID know them, LTU, as did most everyone else in N. Utica.
Is it necessary to throw stones? Some of Terry's kids still live around here.
You can't even listen to LTU Julie. He/She is delusional. I am from NU and still live here but I know many of my friends and family drink too much and use drugs and MANY of them live in NU. It's sad but true and just a part of life and I'm not judging just saying it. LTU likes to pretend it doesn't happen because he/she thinks it's wrong. He/She thinks that as long as people mow their lawns they don't drink too much or use drugs = NU not having any riff raff.

I knew him very well. He died Dec. 23, 1968 from a hunting injury a month earlier. I left Utica in 1964, but before that we used to lift weights together at his house. Also hunting, etc. Still miss him today.

I remember Ms. Auert. She took the bus to work everyday. She worked at the Savings Bank of Utica.
Does anyone remember Ms. Curtis the 2nd grade teacher. Mrs. Engle 3rd Grade. Mrs. Darling 4th grade and the biggest witch, miserable sob Mrs. O'Leary 5th Grade. That woman should have been shot for the way she treated her students. She was a sick, sick person and had no business teaching kids. She tortured us both physically and mentally!!
I still remember Mrs. O'Leary, and you are absolutely right. Over the years I've told my wife how this teacher would slap the hell outta me and others. She was a disgrace. I had her in 5th grade around 1959 or 60 I believe. She would be in prison if she were around to do such such things today. Good riddance.

Lived up their as a child and NU was the nicest place in the world to grow up in. Small ranch, pool in the yard, cool schools and church. Cant say much bad about NU in the 60s & 70s and if i didnt turn out so great it wasnt because of where i grew up or the ppl i associated with.

Ppl will be ppl and some thought they were better than others as i'm sure some still do. I was amazed to learn of some families that still live up there and i wish all of them the best and to the ones that have left us you will be missed.
