Who offers the best prices and best selections of handguns in the mohawk valley. I am shopping for a handgun but the websites leave much to be desired. I am looking to streamline my search for reputable licensed dealers, thanks

I am looking for a 9 mm semi for cc and personal protection. Later I would like a revolver with a 4 inch barrel larger caliber for home defense. Any suggestions for the best gun to suit my needs and is Frank's the best place to buy for selection and price, do you believe. I will check him out if so.

Have you taken the necessary training courses to ensure that you can use this weapon safely?

Do you have a safe at your house to keep your weapons out of the hands of children or criminals?

K&K used to be the best, but since they closed if you want to stay away from the big stores(Gander & Bass Pro) Frank is pretty much it locally.

Lots of options out there but stay away from the cheap junk guns, they will have no resale/trade in value down the road.

For semi's stay with Ruger, Colt, S&W etc. for revolvers its pretty much the same choice, any thing under $500 new is junk. Remember, if you buy quality the first time it will last your lifetime!

For revolver calibers a good choice is a .357 magnum since you can also shoot .38's out of it, which are a little cheaper to practice and target shoot with.(Don't buy a .38, you can't shoot .357's with it)

To all you haters out there remember this "What stops a bad guy with a gun?" -- Answer - "A good guy with a gun"!!!

Good advice harry.
Berretta 92s is very reliable. Walther P series is another. I would choose .45acp as your caliber.

In regard to home defense, a shot gun. Use buckshot as ammo. It's easy to use, and buckshot won't go thru walls and hit an innocent.

Concealing : get a good holster in leather, preferably a cross draw type. Bianchi offers a nice selection . Good luck

just keep tugging on that little wart you call a dick and it will grow a little bit. it might even squirt out a drop of juice, you won't have to spend a dime and you'll keep all your toes.

Any thoughts about the new S&W shield. It comes in a 9 mm and a 40 caliber.

What!? Ballistics for one shot ball is similar to a .38 special. However with buckshot you have a bunch of them. They will most definitely go through walls in most homes.

Even most "bird shot" will go through walls.

10mm is where it's at today. Why is utica stuck in 1986?
The benefit of the 10mm cartridge is that it can be loaded to near .357 magnum performance AND that an automatic gun can hold a lot of them.

However, since the SAFE Act has passed and we have a 7-round limit (litigation pending), there is really no reason to carry it. Asides from that, most of the ammunition that you can buy in stores will have similar performance to a .40 S&W round.

I have a 10mm EAA Witness that I love but that damn Cuomo neutered it.

The 10mm is a good round, however it is not a very popular caliber, therefore finding ammo can be harder than usual.
I considered the 10mm sometime ago but decided on the .40, similar ballistics, magazine capacity and overall performance yet infinitely easier to find ammo.

It's still a low velocity round. It's ballistics are nearer to a .32cal at the muzzle. After going through a wall thru insulation and the backside it's energy slows to exponentially.

If a free country, to me they're just tools. Find the one that works for you and your intentions.

K&K were nose pickers. Go out Rt5 to Canastota and turn south at the light, there's a gun shop out there that will treat you like a human being.
