The food quality is never consistent because their staff is always changing. The staff on hand is usually drunk or coked out. You never know what you are going to get. Late night it becomes a haven for users and abusers. UPD needs to pay this place a visit and possibly the health department. Time to clean out the fridge and get rid of the coke ring.

Was at the Balken last night....Saturday night , dinner time, they had no Sauerbraten, no pot roast or snitzel. 3 of their signature dishes they were out of. Then we were told they've been out of saurebraten since wed. Went there specifically for it. We left. Whats going on there??

I used to work at the Balkan/Hadley and believe the food is wonderful (at least when I was there) but dining out isn't just about food, it's an experience.
I know a lot of people who won't go back because of the owners and it's sad. They are literally their worst problem and totally ignorant to this. No one wants to go out for a nice and expensive meal only to watch the restaurant owner's 40 year old ( and that's being generous) bitch get drunk with his obnoxious crew. In the words of Prince,'act your age- not your shoe size.'

As an important member of the staff I can say it is true the entire staff did walk and it may have been Pierre that caused it Boyd was definitely no help. It may have been Pierre's attitude as the final straw but Boyds cheapness and lack of standards and sanitary food was the final straw for the chef
