On june 3rd I purchased a dresser for my bedroom from affordable furniture in utica. It is now 2 months and it still not in stock. But my credit card was charged in june.I asked them to cancel the order but it is against their policy. Now I am stuck with a large bil and no furniture. Any one else have a problem with them ? Any suggestions ?

It is a common issue with them. It happened to me and i could not do anything. Just make sure you let everyone know what they do.

Wow did you hit on a subject that I'm familiar with. We purchased living room furniture from them a while back and was going to take 6 to 8 weeks to come in.Then after almost 10 weeks of waiting we went in and ordered a different set becuase we grew tired of waiting for the first one.We were told the first set would be in and we were responsible for a 15% restock fee because we selected a new set that would come in sooner. They would not allow a refund for us to take our business elsewhere, but our only option was a store credit to be applied to the second set. This restock fee was for items we never got. 4 days after the arrival of the other furniture we immediately started having problems with it. We called and tried to reasonably settle the problem with them.We got constant runaround and restated we could not give us a refund but a store credit AGAIN, even though we did not want to purchase anything else from them. Long story short, we took them to small claims court and eventually won. My advice would be document everything...phone calls, letters, names of people you spoke to,send certified letter stating what you want...if you cannot resolve this your last alternative is to take them to court, you have nothing to lose, and by all means do not buy another thing from there.

Thanks for the warning. I was actually thinking of buying from them. Any recommendations of a better place to try?

.........don't write this stuff. I JUST bought my son a dresser & night table for his first apt. Of course, it wasn't in stock & we hafta wait.

I hope this isn't the norm. Now, I'm worried.

If I purchased the 0 interest for 3 mos & the finance company starts billing me.......am I liable if I DON"T have the furniture?

Oh, btw, the offer same day delivery. Guess what? That delivery costs $79!

Now I wish I went elsewhere.

Go back to the store and ask to speak with an owner. If you're not satisfied with the outcome then ask him if he would'nt mind you sharing his name, his response and your experience on Topix.

Try Joe Tahans. They were great to me! I had a problem with a hutch I bought from them. They sent a guy to fix it first. He came and decided to get me a new one:) Delivered:) They were even careful not to get the floors dirty:) I also ordered a dining room set with two captains chairs and four of the regular chairs. When they delivered it, I noticed there were no captains chairs. They let me use the two regular chairs until the captains chairs came in. They even brought them to me:)

Contact your credit card company. Items purchased on credit are required to be delivered within 30 days of the billing date.

Word is the owner of Affordable owes vendors all over town. He keeps promising to pay but all anybody gets is empty promises which you can't take to the bank. If I were you i would grab a bunch of guys and just go in his place and take furniture in the amount owed to you. Do you think he would stop you? I don't think he will call the cops he doesn't need the publicity.

Seems to me that without the furniture the contract is void. But I am no attorney. Although I am smarter than some who practice in Utica. Remember Think First!

I think I got f***ed! I'm figuring if/when bill comes, I'll call the finance company & tell them I don't have the furniture. Hope it works. You guys got me scared.

I like Joe Tahan's. I just purchased a $1400 mattress for $600 at that clearance outlet at the New Hartford convention center.

Only buy from Affordable if it is stock. The best place to buy furniture is Joe Tahan's on Commercial Dr. or try the clearance outlet in NH. They are also in Rome but I've never been there. You could also try Raymour's but they are priced a bit more.
