For all you folks that don't think Remington can move because they are too big I'd like to add some thoughts. How about General Electric at both locations in Utica? How about Univac that left for Bristol Tenessee? How about Chicago Pneumatic? How about all of the empty buildings on route 5S before you get into Utica? Think they can't move? Guess again.

The idiots that passed the SAFE act get this award for stupidity as well as Cuomo.

That's the most laughable part.

The Mayor of Iliot thinks somehow that a few new cnc tables lathes and mills are "hard to move" from what he told Bill Keeler.

That's bullshit. In 2010 Caterpillar bought Electro Motive Dicvision of GM, the biggest railroad locomotive manufacturer in the world with the most popular locomotives in the world and the backbone of the North American railroad manufacturing industry.

Their London Ontario plant was also considered "too big to move" and "too big to fail" by the unions and the taxing government. The politicians did exactly as the leaders there near Remington were doing. They even cited the extensive $55Million EMD had dumped into tooling and Line 3a the new Dash 2 production line.

Well EMD warned the unions and politicians and they did not listen... so one day in 2011 EMD's Canadian employees showed up to work but the gates of this historic facility (and industrial design study) were locked and they were told they no longer had their jobs. End of story go home goofs.

Caterpillar had ramped up production and storage and the production order calender and prepared. They arrived with a train one day and ripped apart the London EMD plant lock stock and barrel and moved it to Muncie Indian closer to their HQ in LaGrange Ill and put the Dash 2 plant in Mexico. Both Mex and Ind. had been wooing them, and the costs to move it was 2 peanuts and 20 logistics guys.

The power is cheaper in Tenn. There are two top TOP (not CLAIMED... REALLY the top engineering schools near the sites Remington is looking at and their taxes are nothing compared to NY and there's no liberal yellow nannystate bully prison economy mentality in Tenn.

See ya!

Freedom Group has openly said in nationwide news they are seeking to sell the Bushmaster line. What do they make besides the pistols at Iliot? Hmm?

They already have 3 facilities around Tenn and Ky and a storage facility too.

This is going to be good watching Cuomo get bitchslapped. Freedom Group may not be as forward thinking or daring as Caterpillar but there's next to no reason to keep it there, they will still get Govt. contracts in Tenn, Tenn has more congressional pull anyway.

They said they can't sell Rem while it's still in the old dilapidated site in Ilion, and anyone who truly believes they will incur the costs to move 1 town away is on supercrack-H! Why stay in a state that's openly hostile to you and pay the taxes, pout up with a substandard workforce pool and pay NY taxes for that kind of abuse?

AR-15.com noted that they will enjoy EVEN MORE accolades and sales by sticking it to the anti-gun lobby and their loons.

So whatever Tenney and Griffo or ANYONE tells you those are the verifiable facts people.

You may stick your heads back in the sand people, Rem wouldn't pay to have scouts and engineers scoping new sites. It's funny watching the locals there goo and gaw about how it's not happening, while ALL the indicators show otherwise, unless you count the idiots at the OD who keep interviewing the Mayor and Tenney to keep you voting for them and hoping "memories" will retain Remington in NY.

It was announced on the news today. Heard it myself. Remington Arms is planning on moving some, or all, of their NY activities to Tennessee, and they are considering the Nashville area. Their decision was, in large part, made because of Cuomo's "SAFE NY" gun control act. Thank you, King Cuomo!

Now stop that Lisa. You can't bring reasonable dialog into a thread like this. It doesn't help the gun freaks in their "I hate our governor" side show. The SAFE act did more to increase gun sales than anything in decades! If I were a gun manufacturer I'd be kissing Cuomo's a$$! Add the fact that Remington was recently awarded a huge military contract with the help of our state reps. Now if you don't already have a 12 gauge slug in your head you see why Remington is not closing the Ilion plant, rather expanding nationally. Boy do I wish people thought "the gubment is comin' to git" the product I sell!...and the stores can't keep enough ammo on the shelves. Oh that's right. The fruitcakes are stocking up for the "revolution! What a bunch of slimy bottom feeders! LOL

Wow what a fool. So you think if they MOVE they will sell LESS?

Real smart! AR-15.com explains how well received they are so far for sticking up for it. You must be another one of the chickenshit rosy glassed liberal loons afraid of a gun. Either way, we win!

Afraid of a gun? Nah. You just keep buying all the gunz & ammo your lil' heart desires. I'll pass on that thanks but I do appreciate all the sales tax revenue you're generating. Let 'em sell all they want wherever they want for all I care. I have to laugh at the new meat collectors getting all armed & jacked up about the gubment a comin' to take away their dick substitutes. I don't think it matters any if you are liberal or conservative on this issue. What really matters is the writing on the wall. Nobody wants this plant to close, but that won't change the fact that it already is on a definate course to closure. Central New York lags behind many other areas in many ways. For a state with the largest populaltion, we are behind in many ways. We have a high cost of living, high taxes, poor public services, a huge welfare problem, and so on. For a state that is as large as NY, it seems absurd to me that the only vibrant section of this state is the NYC downstate area. All of NYS that is worthwhile seems to be concentrated in one area. Upstate NY is far behind. Yes, you can pick and find the few golden spots in Upstate that shine, but on the whole Upstate is turning into a wasteland of low paying jobs and a low quality lifestyle. I've been to Tennessee, and in many aspects it is far superior to Upsate NY. Nashville has a level of vibrancy and sophistocation that you will never find in Utica or Syracuse. They have jobs there and people have the money to spend on the things that make their lives better. The failures of NYS will be difficult to change within the course of our lifetimes, or even the lifetimes of our children and grandchildren. Its just not going to get any better anytime soon. The only realistic option is to follow the money and go where the jobs are. Where there are jobs, you will find all the other things that can make life good. Stay in NY and suffer from misery, or head south.

Let them go. The mayor in the valley has said he would do anything to keep them. Is the answer to give them the keys to the valley. What happens next year when another state steps in. If they are going to leave let them. Do not bankrupt the valley for a move that is going to happen. If not this year next.

You are afraid. You're anti gun so obviously you're lying.

Also, I don't live in NY so good luck thinking I generate any sales tax for your nannystate. Try not to sound so emotionally unhinged about it and perhaps someone will believe your ranty chickenshit name calling. Don't be afraid of guns. They provide the freedom you hide behind.

You people are borderline mentally challenged. Remington is not going anywhere. They have a multimillion dollar government contract and is committed to their present sight. Why don't you people find something worthwhile to talk about. Time will prove me right. I'll try my hardest not to say told you so. They are not hurting enough to make such a move!!

Hate to burst your bubble. CP left they had lots of work. Orion left they had planned on moving almost 10 years ago but NYS forced them to stay if they wanted to sell buses to NY city. Because they got work means nothing.

If this sort of thing keeps up, all of us NY liberals will have to move south to Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and all the other southern states. We need jobs as much as the conservotards do. If all the jobs move south, we will have to go with them, and then all the "red" states will start to turn "blue"!

Sorry they just dumped a few candidates that tried that here in Texas. We prefer you immature losers stay there and suffer wallowing in your self produced shyt and when you DO move we can spot you all a mile away. What's the problem? Sad that everyone left you to feed off what is left of eachother?
