They are BROKE period. Can't even pay the INTEREST with the loans, couldn't when they borrowed another FIVE million to put on their own shows. Matter of time, tick tick. They had ANY sense, they'd let Al Naccholina of Broadway Binghamton take it over. TICK TICK TICK

Give them some of the indian money to fill some holes in the budget. The Oneida Indian nation does make it harder (but not impossible) for theaters like this to get A list shows so the least the County can do is to give them some of their money.

If it's a loosing proposition, knock it down and sell the architectural work. Also, the historical society dosn't care how much it costs to fix a building but they want it to original specs....so much for the landlord.Where were they when they ripped the slate roof off the Bosnian/Muslem church on Court St. and put a shingle roof on?That should have been replaced with slate.Same goes for the Stanley. It never should have been allowed to be modified. The historical society should be DISSOLVED.
Is that church on the National Register or was it given some other title that would signify historical significance?
The Stanley is on the National Register of Historic Places.

We have a lot of the financial problems we do because of government giving money to private businesses that don't make money. How about we give more money to Hotel Utica? How about another bolt of cash to that rascal that ran Piers & Blake?

Stop wasting taxpayer money on things like this. If enough people want it then it will survive. A few years ago it was the "Stanley elite" that wanted the backstage expansion. They didn't have enough money to do it themselves so they went around with their hands out while telling everyone how wonderful it would be and what a good investment in the future of Utica it would be. Here we are millions of taxpayer dollars and a few years later. It certainly is nice(for the entertainers and staff) but not so wonderful for the economic future of Utica.

Let's just be clear. The turning stone doesn't get "A list shows". To the mouth breathers in that region you might think that but they aren't. It's a region thing. Sorry people. No one cares about you.

Utica on Tap at The Stanley was never a Stanley event. It was a Town Square Media event held at the Stanley. The theater has no advertising budget so the easiest thing to do is trade space for time. I'm sure Town Square didn't pay a rental fee for the building and The Stanley has received or is receiving some sort of advertising package for it. It's a case of one hand washing the other which this city is no stranger too. On to major events being held there. The costs for shows is growing. For example: An act like Easton Corbin who just performed at the casino is $35,000. That's just the show cost without travel expenses and the writer which all need to be factored in to final budget. Now with the Stanley as soon as you touch the stage you owe the union money as well because the crew is all unionized. Then your lights, heating/air conditioning, ticket costs, etc. They have no start up money. A national act usually requires half between 30-60 days prior to show with the rest being required immediately after the performance. Of course that depends on the agency. So how does a facility that is already deep in debt afford to put on a show like this? Get sponsors! Well they owe every bank in the area money, so no financial institution is going to give them anything to help put on a show due to the risk factor and non payments on the Stanley's part. How about a major business? Would you as a business owner give a substantial donation to an organization that has been mismanaged? Plus who would they book? This arises a whole new issue. What does this area support and is the board/director of the building in touch with the area enough to know? Look at the list and tell me:

BOARD OFFICERS:

SCOTT SHATRAW
President
KAREN MADDEN
Vice President
JULIA MORRISEY
Vice President
CURT PEARSALL
Vice President
THOMAS VANHATTEN
Treasurer
LISA BETRUS
Assistant Treasurer
DONNA DONOVAN
Secretary
STEVE ZOGBY
Immediate Past President

BOARD MEMBERS:

ROSILYNN BARONE
GREG BENINCASA
GENE DAMICO
STEPHANIE DAVIS
RALPH EANNACE, JR.
GREELEY FORD
JON HYSELL
MERRIT LOCKE
DAVE MATHIS
KRISTEN SKOBLA
TOM STARR
CONNIE WATKINS

This list of course doesn't include Jerry Kraus who is running the theater but his hiring and qualifications are a whole different topic. I am sure this is all going to be picked to pieces and I look forward to reading the responses. I wish nothing but the best for the theater. I was born and raised in Utica and would want nothing more than to see it survive but what my heart wishes and my mind tells me are two different things. Two wrongs don't make a right. Seems like bad decision after bad decision doesn't make one either.

Nailed it. Except it's "rider" not "writer". Also, Jerry & Tom Starr probably give free advertising on The Drive and it's worth about that much. And of course that brilliant marketing mind, Donna Donovan claims she will be making it a priority to help wherever needed. Here's another one, regarding Jerry's qualifications - I see John Faust working a lot. Volunteer? Or being paid to do what Jerry can't handle?

Blitz I actually thought the last two were kinda interesting. I don't see a solution except, oh, idk, maybe putting someone in charge of the theater that knows what the hell their doing. This board has been around for a long time from what I know and it seems like they're the one's that failed the Stanley. Maybe they should have a fundraiser where they all stand on stage and we get to throw rotten fruit at them. Oh wait but according to reality we'd owe the union money. Lol.

The failure of any organization Is typically the BOD when one is involved. Yet they are not where the blame ever falls. Instead they offer up some sacrificial lamb that they know would not have a chance in hell as a fall guy/gal and take no responsibility for the issues they are responsible for at the end of the day.

Enter the self proclaimed, over educated know it all run sh.t from the mouths. They pick up the ball offered up (Jerry) as the responsible party and toss it all over to see what happens.

Yet they could actually care less about anything Stanley, or Utica for that matter. What they really care about is attention, being inflammatory and getting a rise from nearly anyone that will respond to their infantile ramblings. Its a theme here. These half tards sit around all day antagonizing anyone on any topic that comes along.

Its the same two or three wise guys. They will respond to this to demonstrate their (capabilities). Just wait
