It would be great if Vernon Downs turned into a real Casino. It would be even better if one was built within the Utica City limts. Mayber around Harbor Point. Or Why not in downtown, maybe in the old hsbc building. Doubtful, but its a thought.

Hotel Utica will be the site. The plans are already in the works. It'll feature the first Ruth's Chris upstate - they've been trying to break into the lucrative Rome-Utica market for years. This is gonna be great!!

When and if any casino resorts are built they won't come to utica. Albany is probably doing secret back room under-the-stairwell deals divying up the 3 casino spots available. Turning stone will be the death of any plans of a casino in cny period. Casinos are mostly built by capitol funds ind investment groups today and they do studies and beancounting tens of times more authoritative than the people who would be courting them... utica, rome, oneida.
These deals will all go to the Friends of NYC and Albany. That leaves tops 1 slot for upstate to fight over. Helloooooo Buffalo!

Good news is and TS work or new casinos will very likley be done by my company so it's like being paid to hammer in the coffin nails AND we get all the real dirt from the inside! I'll give you advance warning if it comes down our to do list for cny but you'll see a Casino in utica right around the time you see a wafer plant in marcy. Stick with the prison economy cny. It's more your speed.

Not true, Dean. Governor Andy said that they would all be in upstate not NYC. The idea is economic development and tourism for upstate. Also, because of a treaty w/ the Senecas, they can't be west of Geneva - so Buffalo and Rochester are out.

On the other hand, Andrew the Benevolent also said that he'd never take away anybody's guns.

Sullivan and Ulster counties are already preparing proposals and have partners lined up. Where is Oneida or Herkimer Counties on any of this? The diamond mines would be a cool hook for a resort.

The racinos should be automatically qualified for casino gaming if they want to apply for it, especially the ones that have foreign or Indian competition. Did I read the news correctly that the Governor won't allow full casino gaming that competes with Turning Stone? That can't be true. It makes no sense.

The Destito and Halbritter clause is probably a good name for that. Don't you like how that RoAnn Destito appointment worked out for everyone? All their respective interests convene into.. "How convenient".

Well, hopefully that fat, worthless......well you know what I mean, won't be there for long. It's the revolving door cronyism that has gone on in NY for years and probably will continue to go on. Here's one of the reasons NY needs to keep taxing you more or increasing fees (but those are just taxes). Got back to when Destito started her position at the head of whatever agency she is running now. It really does not matter which one because the agency heads get paid much more than a state Rep. or Senator does. Their pension is based on their highest paid three year period, which of course is as an agency head. Three years go by and they retire. Do you think the state was able to fund the higher pension they will recieve after only three years in that position? Of course not, so they have to tax more to pay for their pensions. So I don't think Destito has too much longer until she retires....and goes to work for Halbritter.

I can't imagine that the Turning Stone would squash any idea/plan for a casino in the utica area. If anything the governor probly would want that to drain some of their buisness.

These are all excellent points you remind me of a thoughtful blogger we had there a few years back went by the name of BD. I believe that one day Ms. Pigstito and by default her kid are in for a very unpleasant personal reminder of how what she has done to the people there.

Oh god. How many people do these morons think live up here in rural counties that can support all these casinos? The populations are sparse. What a waste of money. Let the Indians have the casinos. They earned every dime they are making by being tortured and killed in masses by the US Government and its predecessors since the 1600s.

The OIN has already come out against this. They have a warplan and fund for it already if you know how the operate.
The casinos will not end up in the Utica area unless Jeff Gural gets his act together in about a week.
I was actually considering reaching out to Vernon with some helpful information they'd need.. that I won't speak on here or I'd reveal the source.. that could help.

It would be nice to see Gural pay a modest skim (tax) to the State and make Vernon a monster. However it's a long shot by anyone's estimate because as cool as Jeff is he's up against heavy players who I already know are doing their dealings.

Additionally, I was at a memorial for a long lost friend who disappeared near Cragsmoor Ellenville last week and they are all buzzing with the news that an informal promise is already in place for one of the huge resorts that have sat vacant for about the last three Democrat governors. It could be hot air and rumors but watch the Times Herald Record ( a real newspaper.. not the OD it's actually like 3/4 inches thick and BIG ) they will telegraph it shortly in a report on the potential. I know for certain that that newspaper is on their game hardcore. They'd devastate most of your politicians up there they lit into RoAnn Pigstito and that's not even her area. Mario Cuomo had all but promised Monticello and the Catskills they could have one twenty years ago and they never forgot it. That was the stated reason for the widening of about 40 miles of Rt17 in the wane of the 80s. Even people I know in the Manor (a little remote country town are all talking about it last week) The only thing is these greedy fucks in Albany are probably taking sealed corrupt bids already like they have a license to do so.
Buffalo is a certainty for one, despite all the casinos across the border, no ifs ands or buts. I sure hope you get that casino but unless I'm wrong, don't bank on it folks. You are grossly underrepresented there.

Who listens to Hob but if you folks know what's good for you you will band together and BURY the State pols that left that area a shambles and under great stress. And Mohawk Valley folks will do that right around the same time pigs fly with inflight movies.

Can't create any other kinds of jobs because we sent them all over seas. So this is our pathetic leaders idea of job creation.
