I work at the train station. I see this crazy-ass cat lady leaving buckets of cat food for this feral cat every single day. Lady, seek mental help. This cat is feral because it lives in the outdoors. If it cannot survive on its own hunting skills, it should die. And you really don't need to be leaving Cool Whip containers filled with cat food where skunks and vermin are having a freakin field day getting free food.

Can't blame someone for being kind to animals I guess. I'm sure it gives her a nice feeling.

Feed them some lead. They kill many birds and small animals.

You rude and ignorant. The cat lives outdoors because someone abandoned it or it is the offspring of cats who have not been spayed or neutered due to some irresponsible human. There are organizations who sponsor a trap/neuter/release program with managed feeding to keep feral colonies under control in a humane manner.
By the way, if you lived outdoors and couldn't survive by your own hunting skills, I guess you should die.

Leaving food outdoors attracts the wrong kind of animal. Like skunks. There's already a skunk problem in this area. They are multiplying. I'm sure this lady is trying to be nice but she's not helping matters. Use common sense.

Has society care more about animals and less about people? I know why people do it . Animals don't hurt you , people do.

Dogs I can see caring a lot about. Dogs connect with humans. They require human attention and love and they give unconditional love. Cats don't care about people except as a food source. Now a feral cat? It is a wild animal in my opinion. Not sure it should be fed like that....how could it ever live on its own if this woman didn't feed it? what happens if the woman drops dead tomorrow? the cat will perish.

poster. i have a neighbor who feeds feral cats. OMG cats everywhere and THEIR BIG!!! Bigger than a housecat - they look like a small lioness. They are survivors and could kills Utica's rat population if we'd let them. Let them fend for themselves. Although, I do agree with trapping a ferral cat and getting them spade or neutered.

PS - these damn cats use my flower bed as a litter box. DISGUSTING!

Maybe getting sprayed by that skunk will make her stop.

If your neighbor is feeding, she should also be doing trap/neuter/return. If you are in the Syracuse area, Animal Alliance of Syracuse www.animalallianceof syracuse.org )should be contacted for assistance. Alley Cat Allies website has a list of things you can do to deter cats from your garden.

Hey stupid, before you attempt to be a brainiac and mention "the food chain" it should be pointed out that domestic cats are not a native species in North America, they are invasive.

This means they are disruptive to the natural environment, not a beneficial part of the food chain, you effing MORON. Also the native species that they stalk and kill are in fact vital parts of the ecosystem and the food chain. Feral cats are pests and a health hazard.

Read a book or use google, knowledge is free and you choose to remain ignorant.

Animals don't hurt you? Ever hear of rabies? You've never heard of people attacked or killed by animals? Catching diseases from animals? Sorry but its rather foolish to say animals can't or don't hurt people.

You should document the neighbor feeding them and report it to the authorities.

In many places its illegal to feed strays and feral cats. this includes big fines and even jail time. If that isnt illegal in your city or state there is another way to approach the situation.

second option is that most states have a "if you feed it. you own it" law...so even if feeding isnt illegal that means the person feeding them has to provide documentation that they have been current shots for rabies and whatever else the law requires in your area. if the feeder cant produce this documentation its back to fines and legal troubles if they dont stop.
