Such a nasty little utican. Well anyway I undestand but you really did not hit on even half of whats wrong with that rat hole. As to you,re query you have to be "utican" to make sense of anything that goes on there.

It's small. It's dirty. There's absolutely zero there that's exciting. The utica sign is ridiculous. The aud is dumpy. The roads are horrible. Commercial drive is nothing you can't find anywhere else.
The other thing I've realized the further I've distanced myself from there is exactly how small it is. I hear people referring to east utica...west utica...etc. the city is ridiculously small. You can literally get anywhere from anywhere in five minutes.
The city is quite simply mediocre at best. It's just a rundown nothing burger of a town.
And yet Rashy Dave Smith you can't stop your obsession with the place. In ten years you haven't made a life for yourself. You're over 40 now Dave, if you were going to make it you would've made it by now so I guess it's all you have. So sad. Hope you saw RJ while you were in town.

And that's the great utican attitude right there.
But we have you by the balls. You may think you left us behind but we have infiltrated your mind so bad you can't ignore us for even one day. Your life is consumed by Utica. You eat Utica, sleep Utica, breathe Utica, you even dream about us. You can't let a minute of your worthless life go by without coming back here in your head. Your brain is a mush of Utica memories. We have you sucked in so bad you couldn't escape if you wanted to. You are our little demented Utica troll.

We're in your head forever.

Also driving down Genesee st and around where the great mayor palmidiot keeps selling the "harbor project". Have you looked what surrounds that area? It's all Dpw buildings and a dump. Why in the world would people want to go there? This is a serious question. I honestly can't believe he proposed putting a casino in that area.
That is the biggest scam going yet for the connected ppl to rip us off. They spent half a million bucks already! For what? Giving some engineers 200 K to make a plan some Utica College kids would do for free. Keep election these same crooks u goofs!

Can't dispute much of what's been said here, the area's depressed. Ignoring facts would be like Riggies' Rants that incessantly drone on despite all the counter evidence. However, there are a few left who want to see better days, but it makes it awfully difficult when even supposed ex-residents keep putting it down. It's an easy target, and apparently human nature needs something to look down on to boost their own low self-esteem. The same thing happens nationally with Buffalo, and its way off the mark.

As far as the Capital Region, it's certainly nicer than much of CNY. However, Riggie, if you want to see a real Capital Region, head on down to the DC suburbs that stretch as far as the eye can see in Northern Virginia and Maryland. And you tell me after wave upon wave of counties with better school districts than the last, where your federal tax dollars are going. You rant about a couple of million in wasted NYS tax dollars, you gotta see where the real fleecing lies. The US Government is big, big business and you're not part of it.

Umm...I couldn't care less about the fleecing at the federal level. All I care about is the state dollars pumped into the capital region so my homes value keeps increasing and people keep buying big beautiful luxury cars. Other than that I couldn't care less.
What I do care about is pointing out the ignorance in your region and the comedy involved in it. It's a great time waster. It truly is better than any reality tv program.
Um, no. You'll never sell that house because an inspection will reveal all those dark secrets you've got buried in your basement. Some real sick, psychotic shyt, there Riggie...

It's not an insult. I'm serious. Potential buyers touring Riggie's house would be like, "I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something really wrong with this house. No thanks." Sorry Riggie, truth hurts and people know.

Get real, Riggies. Comparing Albany to Utica is like comparing a bottle of dog piss to a bottle of cat piss. Both are awful. Just because one sucks slightly less than the other doesn't mean that it's actually a thriving place. Congratulations for living in the bottle of dog piss. At least the smell from your bottle might come out after dry cleaning. The Utica cat piss scent is indelible.

I believe that it is important to note that this poster spends his entire existance reliving his past in Utica. Either he is here, just visiting, or reminicsing about how horrible the city has become.
It speaks volumes about his new life in Nirvana; or wherever he resides presently.

<quoted text>The first sign you're in the real-life setting of "Deliverence" should be the "Utica Tower"!
Just think about that. It's a tower with ZERO purpos. A smart lad could make quite a commish and ongoing % by renting some of that vertical real estate with a couple cell carriers on it. My brother has made quite a fortune for himself building celltowers and he even laughs at that tower sitting there with no purpose.
We went up there for Christmas and got laughing at it, he noted -
"In most communities there will be a giant "pitchforks and torches" uproar over cell towers. Half his time is spent assuaging people rather than the carrier contracts when he's leasing and building them. Sometimes he even has to use disguises they make so it looks like a tree or clock.
Compare:
---Normal towns HATE the eyesore towers but accept the tax rev and are happy.
---Uticans are so fucking backward THEY ERECT THE EMPTY TOWER - GET NOTHING FOR IT and then being genetically braggadocios-to-the-MAX... they RAVE about it being the 8th wonder!
