I suggest the removal of the following stoplights as un-necessary:

Mohawk St & Lansing St
Mhoawk St & Mary St (Mary St is one-way, crossing a 2-way)
Mohawk St & Catherine St
Mohawk St & Sherman St.

Anyone have any suggestions?

How about all of genessee street. Genessee street is small anyways with all of the cars parked along the road. Most times i can reach out and touch other cars in the lane next to me.

Nothing says "Utica Progress" like the two stop lights in front of Holy Trinity on Lincoln!

When there are so many useless lights in Utica that should be removed, I'd like to know who the genius is that decided to remove the light from the 5-way intersection of Varick, Columbia and Huntington Streets. That intersection, without a traffic light, is probably the most dangerous intersection in the city and someone is going to get killed there soon if that light isn't put back up.

The light at State and Lafayette needs to be turned back on. Meanwhile the light at Lafayette and Cornelia serves no purpose. The one end of Cornelia is a one way street that has no traffic on it at all. The light there serves no purpose, yet they want to remove the one a block down on State, where people speed up to hit Rt 12.

They claim they've done traffic studies. Bull sh*t. they took out lights then waited to see how many complaints and/or accidents happened, then considered that their traffic study.

No, you're a simpleton if you have a problem with that intersection. That is the problem here: Uticans are feeble drivers at best. The light changes green and only three cars pass through before it's red agian because Utican driver's reaction time is ridiculous. They sit there picking their toes and talking opn the phone.

no actually it is a bad corner because its not a true 90 degree corner. Seeing down Varick street when facing west on Columbia and seeing up varick when facing east is not very good because of the angle of the intersection.
I like it

I've have been going thru that intersection twice a day sometimes three for over 30 years. If people obey the stop signs, which apparently they are there is no problem. There stopping on Columbia just like they are suppose to. As far as Huntington goes, I have never seen a car come down it or go up it.
You wantto talk about a waste of street light? Court and York. I can sit at that light. See the gas station on Whitesboro, Chesters on York and the drug store on court. And it's very long light coming off York AND no right hand turns allow.

Absolutely correct. The intersections and crosswalks are blocked and visibility is zero. What bone head did this

Genesee and Seward is on, but the one that gets me is Noyes St. Noyes St is a direct route from the arterial to the Square area. Just ask the businesses there what a horrible light to remove.

How about getting rid of the stop signs on Bleecker Street and State Street. What idiot puts stops signs on a main street?

when you cross Genesee St coming from Bleeker, it becomes Lafayette St. And if you are sure its State st, then I made mention of it earlier in the thread:

It is not a good intersection to not have a traffic signal at. After a lot of people and local businesses complained about it, the Mayor said they were going to put the traffic light back on, but that was a couple months ago.

I hope that you haven't been stopped long at Catherine and Mohawk - there isn't a light there.
