Will other manufacturers besides Tesla start selling direct to consumers? I would much rather deal with a car company than a sleazy car salesman who is trying to rip you off.

The auto dealers lobby is too strong in Albany. The state will never let it happen. There are only a handful of states that will allow it, and Tesla is having a tough time doing it.

As soon as each manufacturer will build places to demonstrate their vehicles, keep inventory, service the vehicles, stock parts, perform warranty repairs, provide loaners, and take trades this will never happen. Oh yeah it has already. They are called franchised dealers! Lol!!!

The op is so ignorant. This is like saying I want to buy a burger directly from McDonald's. Lol!

I think you mean, "buy a burger directly from the farmer". AKA, the individual who raised the beef. Still, you made a good point.

I didn't realize farmers raised beef. I thought they raised the cattle and the slaughterhouses produced the beef.

No car manufacturers are concerned with them at all. Tell you what. I dare you to go test drive a tesla this weekend. Actually I'll give you a month. Now after you purchases it where are you getting it fixed? Also you probably have a trade (78%) of customers do. Do you think tesla wants your 2004 forad taurus? Let us know how this worked out for you.

Comparing a car company and a computer company is apples and oranges first. Second last time I looked apple products are available at all of the cell phone companies and big box stores in addition to their separate stores...do what exactly is your point supposed to be anyway?

. Who the heck would ever trade in a car at a dealership? Probably the same people that have their car worked on at a dealership- clueless old people. Sell your car and get much more for it. Before buying a new car, use the internet and have the 10 dealers in your area compete for best price before even walking into a dealer. Car dealerships hate technology as it gives the consumer more info then they had before- as I said a car dealership offers nothing except a way for old ladies to lose money.

It's well thought out actually. You need to read it with the periods..........a literary concept wasted on your trivial mind obviously.

78% of consumers trade a vehicle in at a dealership actually. Now to address your opinion of selling your car yourself. That's fine. You can do that. The numbers don't lie and people don't want to be bothered by it. Also good luck securing financing if you can't pay cash.

Now you mention having competing dealers? Ten I think is the number. You used. I advocate that strongly. If each manufacture just had a store without separate franchisees to compete for your business wheres the benefit. You can watch your 50k car got to 80k and what are you going to do about it? I guess you could then go to your local used car dealer...but wait...he has no cars because they were all privately sold...maybe you can walk them?

My belief is you are about fourteen years old or at least you think like a fourteen year old. In reality the automotive business has embraced the Internet. Why do you think "invoice price" is so widely obtainable. You are truly someone who has fallen hook line and sinker.

Enjoy your next tesla. Lol!

I just bought a car without a trade in and got five years interest free financing. Why would I pay cash?

Apple computers at apple store and best buy are the same price. Quit babbling about 80k. The only reason we pay MORE at a dealer is to pay for the upkeep and saleries of the sales cronies. I would much rather deal with a webpage than some smelly middle aged desperate guy.

I have never paid invoice. OK yea I'm 14 you got me "lol"

Again apples and oranges miss 14 year old. So let me ask you this. Who would work at the stores if you could directly buy from a car manufacturer? Where and how would you test drive it? Who would stock all of the available models, colors, and varying option packages? Sounds like what's already in place nimrod. You are too simple to even debate with.

Let's take it to the extreme Einstein. Let's eliminate grocery stores. Go try and buy all of your food directly from the manufactures. Good luck with that you tool.

. I guess you have never been to a Tesla service center, I don't think they have one in CNY do they? No one likes dealing with creepy commission-paid sales guys or negotiating prices. Give me a warranty and money back satisfaction guarantee and I will gladly buy my next car online. I had to special order my last jeep and it was a pain to deal with the sales people who kept trying to sell me their inventory.

That's too bad. You should try a different dealer or manufacturer next time. The franchised dealers aren't going anywhere.

Next time you need soap make sure you buy it directly from the manufacturer too. I hope you won't have a trade in or a used bar to sell.

You sound like the 14 year old here. I Guess the fact that a webpage can do your job just as good as you feels awkward. Actually the webpage would be better. CNY lol

Web page? Web pages have been around for 20 years missy. You still need the dealership to buy and sell you cars. Enjoy! Lol!
