That's awesome you first say we can't have a convention center because the Turning Stone is to close. However, now Saratoga will have two within two miles of each other. That's real smart.
Caroline St.? You ever been in the bathroom of Gafney's?
Saratoga did not have any attractions when they build a convention center 25 years ago. That is my argument. How many times do I need to repeat myself. I showed proof with articles in the Saratogian and with quotes from there chamber of commerce president. You just choose to ignore the facts.
You didn't show proof of jack. You posted an article of a chamber of commerce official blowing smoke out of his ass. Let me repeat, I grew up there. I know damn well what was there and what wasn't there. There has been solid growth in 25 years but it's never been the ghost town Utica is or he made it out to be.

Looking at the convention schedule. They attract enough to warrant 2. Utica doesn't warrant a single one. You just don't get it.

You're just in over your head on this one. Another example of a yokel desperately reaching. AHL, Nano Fab, Convention Center...The only thing coming to Utica is more refugees and more poverty. If you're lucky maybe bankruptcy and a state control board.

How old are you? Proof of Jack? Are you even 25 yet?
I will give you the quote again. "the streets were so dead you could blow off a cannon at high noon and not hit a single person". End of quote. Chamber president of over 25 years talking about Saratoga.

Losing the argument so trying to divert attention to semantics? You pointed out your own faulty "logic". Chamber president of over 25 years said that 25 years ago you could blow off a cannon at high noon and not hit a single person. Coincidentally he's bragging about that same 25 years that he's been the chamber pres? Please, it's called politics and grandstanding. None of it's true. People have been going to Saratoga forever. I know more about Saratoga than you could possibly ever know. I have family members that have amassed fortunes selling and developing property there including the Wilton Mall and multiple housing developments. My friends and their families have owned businesses there for decades including on Broadway.

Criticizing a bathroom in a joint on Caroline Street and pointing out that they too have some element of crime is in no way an equalizer. It just demonstrates the widespread Utica attitude of trying to bring down other areas to the level of Utica. The problem is that the other areas have major positives that you and other delusionals purposely ignore. You can't outshine or even stand on an even level with it so you try to point out it's negatives. It's a sad attitude. Get over it, Utica SUCKS and it won't be making any type of recovery any time soon if ever.

25 years ago, Broadway was a disaster. Decaying buildings, vacant storefronts and a general feeling of despair. I know. I was there.

Having said that, the convention center had nothing to do with the rebuilding of their Main Street. It was all private investment that came in and renovated those same buildings, or built new. I know. I was there. I made a fortune from it.

Saratoga had a lot going for it at that time, just as it does today. But Utica, ha, no way. Their biggest industry is importing immigrants. Hardly the path to success.

I'm convinced they just don't get it. It's great to try and be positive but there's also a time to be realistic. Call a spade a spade. To try and even compare utica to Saratoga is so far beyond ridiculous I'm not even sure there's a word for it. Once the casino gets up and running its going to be even better.
I don't think a casino will be better for Saratoga. It's going to bring crime, drugs, and more problems for the city. Have you ever been to Atlantic city. It's a real dump.
Utica will come back and is coming back. People are building and investing everyday in Utica. We have better parks,
Better colleges,
better hospitals,
We have better architecture. They can't build higher then four floors. Boring!!!
We have the Stanley,the zoo.
Great golfing.
Bass pro picked Utica before,Albany,Clifton Park or Saratoga.
Our food is way better.
Our people are much cooler. Not pretentious wanna bees.
The list goes on and on.

To say that the convention center didn't help build Saratoga is just pure ignorance.

Schenectady Police have arrested the man they say slapped and choked a teen girl and then tried to throw her in front of a bus. Investigators say 52-year-old Ulysses Wynn of Clifton Park was driving erratically down The Plaza in front of Schenectady High School around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning when a group of students he sped by yelled at him to slow down. Police say Wynn stopped his car, walked up to one of the girls that had shouted, asked her if she had said something and then slapped her across the face. Wynn then allegedly grabbed the girl, believed to be in the 10th or 11th grade, by the throat and pushed her toward an oncoming bus. Another student ran to help the victim who was still being assaulted by Wynn, said police. Wynn fled the scene in his car but was picked up by New York State Police a short time later. He's been charged with one count of reckless endangerment and two counts of harassment. He's being held by police until his arraignment. The girl and the other student who came to her rescue are not being identified. Neither were seriously hurt in the assault.

Soccer referee allegedly sought sex act with boy
ALBANY — A 53-year-old Clifton Park soccer referee was arrested and charged with attempting to induce a 14-year-old soccer referee into a sex act, authorities said.
Thomas Gorsin was arrested Tuesday at a Colonie McDonald’s, where he allegedly expected to meet the boy. Instead, authorities were there to meet him, according to papers filed in federal court.
Gorsin allegedly contacted the boy by e-mail in early July, saying he was a fellow referee. The e-mail went to an account controlled by the boy’s parents. Concerned about its content, they contacted police.
Authorities then stepped in. Gorsin allegedly e-mailed repeatedly, often with sexual comments.
Gorsin also allegedly said he met the boy at the North Colonie Empire Cup tournament in June. The tournament was prior to the beginning of the e-mails.
Authorities said Gorsin was arrested just before 1 p.m. at the McDonald’s.
