Houses boarded up. Filth everywhere.

I can remember when people used to be outside sweeping their porch steps & sidewalks.

What kind of element has taken over?!

YOUR section of Utica may be next!!!!!!!!

Codes Enforcement dropped the ball. Common Council needs to get creative in finding ways to prevent this kind of blight from infecting the rest of the city.

Put a call in to your West Utica councilman, Dave Testa. He'll get right to it!!! No wait, he doesn't have time, he's too busy campaigning for LaPolla, Salatino & Mandia. He has put up more signs for them then for himself!! Hey Dave, how about worrying about your area of the city for a change. You forgot about us as soon as you took office!

Did anyone ever drive on Albany street between Eliz St and Bleecker St? Next time check out the bldg, or what used to be a bldg on the west side. It looks like a bomb landed on that site. It is half up and half down. It was reported at on time and demolition was started but stopped. In fact the heavy equipment was there for many wks doing nothing and then it disapeared! So what's with that? Awful site! I did notify the OD via e-mail and of course nothing was done. I believe the property is owned by one of our councilmen's father Anthony Meola.

Not every black and puerto rican person is a drug dealer.....i know plenty of white kids with rich white parents who also sell drugs and commit crimes.

You're all just being the typical utica racist. Makes me sick. Good day and good bye.

It's the natural order of things and it will continue. If anyone has been to any major city before, it is commonly known as "White Flight". North Utica, South Utica, every section of the city will eventually resemble West Utica. Anyone living on the Parkway or in better parts of the city with higher property values will eventually move as the surrounding areas decline...that is the normal process. If you've lived in Utica all of your life and don't have any experience with other areas of the country, then you just don't understand and will be in denial about the reality of the future that awaits.
The previous poster is correct that not every black or puerto rican person is a drug dealer. However, when lower income minorities take over an area, the inevitable always happens. You will call that a racist remark, but it is based on experience and reality.

And it gets worse. Anyone who invests in their house at this point is really going to be sorry. I don't care how nice your house is! If it is located near an area that is steadily declining, you will not be able to sell it for top dollar. That's not a racist remark, that's simple economics and common sense.

When these kind of people move into a neighborhood, they always end up destroying everything in their wake as all the decent folks move out.
You're right - it is only a matter of time before all the refugees, sex offenders, drug dealers take over the entire City of Utica and start to work on the suburbs.
You are so right indeed! Wherever the blacks move to the same thing happens, they are a curse!

We need to put a stop to the absentee owners who buy up decent large homes and then break them up into multiple rental units. There are a few on Richardson Ave that were once one and two family houses that now have 5-7 meters on the side of the bldgs. These high density rentals open the door for crime, drugs, property degradation and neighborhood decline. This has happened all over the city but should be stopped where it still can be.

Well, the bleeding heart liberals wouldn't let us expand the projects down behind the Aud by the railroad tracks, so we had to start shipping the kneegroes to Corn Hill to replace the former occupants that moved out to the suburbs. The kneegroes then proceeded to burn down much of Corn Hill in their intoxicated crack fueled haze, so we had to start shipping them to West Utica to replace the former occupants who moved out to Whitestown and Oriskany. When all the Hope VI homes back in Corn Hill, and along Eagle Street are created, the poor hard working honest folk that were given a chance to improve themselves will most likely start moving into better locations, and by then the kneegroes will have burned down much of the West Utica area in their ignorant underwear butt showing wanna be gangsta ignorance and stupidity due to decreased brain activity from generations of alcohol and drug use, and then will be shipped back into Corn Hill and other less populated areas, while the Bosnians and other hard working worthwhile ethnic groups continue to improve their sections of town, and the East Uticans hope and pray that the kneegroes wipe themselves out, and leave what nice clean sections of Utica are left still intact. The kneegroes should have been left in aafrikkka in the first place, but it might not be too late to start thinking of sending them back.
Blacks blame their plight and behavior on racism and then when people see what has been done in places like West Utica it reenforces steroetypes and encourages real racism. Aren't there any decent leaders in the Black community willing to speak out again those ignorant blacks who devestate neighborhoods like swarms of locusts and then move on? Good hardworking black people need to step up to help solve the problem.

Landlord accountibilty! The city needs to change or enforce laws that help remove such nonsense from their taxpaying property. It leans way too far to the tenent.Charge more than county can offer.

I hate to say it and not downing all benefit participant...I have 3 apartments and they all work, and they all cash. I have no problems.

I know a few slumlords..his tenents all on welfare, constant problems, house looks like crap littering adults let alone kids.(kids you expect it).

Last note, Indians or ever new refugee is moving in, absolute nasty...I'd walk to the local bodaga, and even my 3 1/2 daugther says the yard is nasty.
just bad...cant even describe it....no garbage bag bad.

I blame the slumlords who don't want to maintain their property but would rather rent to lowlife scum because their rent is guaranteed by Social Services. If they would fix up their property they could rent to middle class people who would pay higher rents and be more likely to keep up the property. This would take work on the part of the absentee slumlords though and they are about as lazy as the creeps they rent to.

The best thing property owners can do is keep the rent high so you can have better applicants for your property.
There is nothing too fancy about New hHartford and Clinton, by keeping their rent high they keep certain riff raft out.
