Rich in yorkville? Unless your first name is rich there is no one in yorkville who's rich. Lol!

We New Hartford residents are not cheap, just frugal. We doctors and lawyers shop at Aldis and WalMart because the prices are low and we can look down at the working poor behind the checkout and the welfares buying store brands.

What's comical is how exclusive new Hartford thinks they are. It's a five minute drive to yorkville. It borders utica. It's far from "exclusive".

Look Utican, we are better and we know it. Just realize that you are substandard. If you could afford to live in the NH, you would, but you can't. Sleep well in your welfare neighborhood.

Sorry. I don't live in new Hartford or a welfare neighborhood. I believe new Hartford is next to such great villages like Chadwick's too correct? Lol! Isn't New York mills in the town of new Hartford too? Lol!

Money to burn in Yorkville? Really?

Write a letter to Whole Foods and ask them to open a store here. If there is enough demand and Whole Foods believe they can make a profit by having a location here then they will come.

I don't go there but the times that I've passed both the New Hartford and Yorkville Aldi's locations the parking lots have been pretty full. They've apparently found a niche where they can prosper. If people choose to not go there for the sake of appearance that's just stupid.

Sub quality in what way?

I've been told that Aldi's food is the equivalent of a chain grocery store's generic brand. Like Price Chopper and Hannaford both have a line of foods that carry their logo. Walmart has "Great Value". Is this not true?

Many of the generic labeled foods regardless where you buy them come from the same packaging facilities. They just change the labels on the packaging line.

Absolutely not true. Plus look at their name brand stuff and the expiration dates. They buy a lot of near expired merchandise to sell. Those are the facts.

I don't shop there but I just talked to someone who does. They said my impression of the majority of the food there is spot on. They have a store brand(similar to the Price Chopper & Hannaford in house brands) and then a very small percentage of what they sell is "brand name". They didn't know about the expiration date thing but will check next time they go.

Have you ever actually been there?

Once. And I know a manager for pbg here in Albany and what I've said is absolutely true. They will literally pick up the aged stock from hannaford, price chopper, etc and bring it to Aldis.

They may do that but the vast majority of what they sell bears their label. I doubt very much they buy surplus goods from other chains and repackage them. That just wouldn't be cost effective and would take too long. That's not to say that they don't buy some "name brand" goods (which I'm told represent a very small portion of what they offer) and put those out at reduced prices. Maybe they do. The next time I pass by an Aldi's I am going to go in. I think you should do the same before making another blanket pronouncement about them offering substandard goods.

The same person who told me about Aldi's told me there is a store run by a church and is called the Compassion Coalition. It's somewhere near the Columbia. They said that store is more in line with what you describe.

I know what I've said is correct. No need to go in there again to check for me.

Glad that's what you have to tell yourself.

This is why I am happy I persevered in life and never gave up. Once you hit 30 you should be earning enough you don't need to shop at poor people dollar grocery stores. Try some standards and living somewhere you don't have to take "any" job.

Exactly. And that's one of the reasons they're stuck there.
