I do! That was an amazing store. I worked there for years. Thats when people actually worked. The kids today at these grocery stores have no brains.

I'm 30 and I remember them vaguely. My grandmother used to go to foodland, and I think chicago market had "talking" registers that would say hello and goodbye or something.

I think I remember a beach towel we had from chicago market, with a yellow and black cart that was smiling.

There was at one time a Foodland on Herkimer Rd. where the Burger King is now. That was back in the late 50's and early 60's. The North Utica Shopping Center had a Loblaws and a P & C.

I think it was Loblaws and Acme, not P&C. I think there was a Ben Franklin there and then a Tars and McCrory's much later. But was there ever a Grants and a Woolworts there ever?

Food land was never where burger king is now. It was a house with "corner store" inside, then it was knocked down and Carrols Burgers was built, which became a Burger King as they are now the largest franchaisee

There was a Foodland there. Fred Mazloom worked there in the meat dept. My mom would send me there to buy milk when my dad was working out of town. There was a house down the street that had a small grocery store on the first floor. I think the family that owned it were the Gleba's. It later became a bar and was then torn down to make room for the Rite-Aid store that is there now.

Yes there was a W.T. Grants store there. I don't know about a Woolworths though. Possibly might have been after the gocery store closed.

What was the bakery that used to be somewhere around there? I remember my dad buying bread all the time from there but I can't think of what it was called or where exactly it was.

Red Barn was also located in Yorkville. The building still stands where Adult World now occupies it.

I am looking for the recipe for the banana loaf cake that Gold Top Bakery, a part of Chicago Market, made. Anyone have that recipe? Thanks. It was moist and had many thin layers with some sort of frosting in between.
