No but as a teenager, I was good friends with his son Norman who married Valerie and is a dentist with his office on Genesee Street. I bought many things from Tony including my first bedroom set when I got married. I was always impressed by him and his seemingly wealthy lifestyle. I remember him coming to see his son pulling up in a black Cadillac. Some people leave an impression on you and Tony is certainly one of them. Myself, Norman, and Valerie grew up on Miller Street, so many years ago.

I believe it was Anthony Cognetto, or something like that. He passed away quite a few years ago. Very nice man. My grandparents and parents all bought furniture and appliances from him for years. My wife and I did too, until he passed.

I bought a Whirlpool top of the line dryer from Tony back in 1983. In 1993, it started making a noice - Tony sent over his brother on a SUNDARY afternoon to install new "rollers" in the dryer. When I went to pay him, he said "Forget it - it was my pleasure"!!!!! I gave him $50 and insisted that he take it.

The dryer continued to work until 2008 when I put it to the curb because some of the porcelin had worn off in the dryer tub which left rust marks on clothes. BUT, it was still operable!!!!

I remember Upstate Furniture as two brothers that always did their best for their customers and were down to earth people. RIP Tony.
