My question is: why don't you give a shit? Why do you allow yourselves to be lied to, bullied, harassed, victimized and punished for the sole purpose of upholding a sophistry; a sophistry that all governmental functions in most all capacities are essential?
My thesis is simple: anyone who allows another entity to decide for them which is fair and unfair--in all matters of life--is a coward. This includes myself, sometimes.
A vague statement. But it becomes tangible when I call you a coward for paying an income tax--or an idiot--for not understanding that government is almost completely unnecessary. Yes--almost all of government--is poisonous and redundant, in reality.
So who is government? You will not like the answer; I certainly do not. Government is anyone who receives money--under any circumstance--from the pubic dole. This includes teachers, the armed forces, police officers, welfare recipients and anyone on social security, homeowners, college students, healthcare workers of any capacity, and any business which accepts borrowed government money in the forms of subsidy or contract. I think Politicians qualify, too.
So, in America, most of us are part of the government. There are very few examples of industrially prosperous people whom haven't accepted support from government; tax returns are not included.
My challenge to you is: decide for yourself if you believe in valor. Is there such thing as right and wrong? Are all things relative? If I make a trade with someone, is it ok for the government to steal part of my trade?
If a construction manager desires my service of labor, and he offers to trade a bicycle in exchange for a full day's worth of my work--and I accept--is it fair for the government to be able to confiscate the front tire of my bike?
If I become hungry after having chosen not to trade to acquire food, why does government sanction me to take from a grocery store at the expense of others?
Why am I forced by law to engage in trade with certain businesses, such as automotive insurance in New York, and upcoming, healthcare insurance everywhere in the country? If I don't value the benefits of their services, I should not be forced to trade with them. This is regardless of whether it actually benefits me or not. It is completely my choice. I will accept all risk and all rewards in my choices.
Why can the government force someone to work against their will for the benefit and at the expense of another? If I am a physician, why am I required to provide my service of labor to someone who has not acquired a private health plan? Why does anyone have the "right" to my service of labor? If the government pays me for work, do I not, then, work for the government?
If I own a bank or a private school, how do I compete with the government to provide the best service at the lowest cost? It's hard. The student who graduates from my private school will pay a high tuition for college because the government will guarantee their loan. Why wouldn't a business such as a college, or hospital--raise their prices--if all which they charge is guaranteed to be paid?
Do I have a right to have a happy marriage? Can the government force someone to marry me and be happy? No. I have to make a happy marriage, myself and my wife. I have to work for it. I cannot use government to force someone to be happy with me and love me, even if I think I have a right to it, and deserve it.
