Insurance companies aren't sending out cancellation letters, they're helping people "transition" into Obamacare, according to a top Democrat.

"If [the companies] changed [the insurance plans] then they have to notify the people who have to have the opportunity to have another policy," said House Ways and Means Committee ranking member Sander Levin, D-Mich.

In fact, according to Levin, the "so-called cancellation notices" merely "help people transition to a new policy."

Liberalism- Ideas so good they have to be mandatory!

i believe what was said is "If you already have INSURANCE, you can keep that". BUT it seems that some dopes bought GARBAGE insurance in name only. If it doesn't include hospitalization, maternity, cancer care etc then your insurer can no longer offer that GARBAGE policy. Saying "i just want to keep my old insurance" is fine IF YOU ACTUALLY HAVE INSURANCE.(not garbage) I'm keeping my insurance. So's my spouse. Hers went down. Mine is likely to do the same. haven't heard yet. Auto insurance has some very specific qualifications to be legally acceptable. Seems reasonable to allow the same for our health care. Pres should've done a better job communicating. He evidently forgets how stupid many American can be.

Of course, now all males are mandated to carry paternity coverage.

Isn't socialism wonderful?

Pete, Fist learn the meaning of "paternity" vs "maternity". Then continue your education by learning the meaning of "socialism".

The ACA's MATERNITY care requirement puts an end to insurance companies' systemic discrimination against women -- many companies charge women higher rates than men for the same plans and deny coverage or increase premiums for women who become pregnant, actions which the law now prohibits. Without the ACA's mandate, only 12 percent of individual market plans currently cover maternity care, according to the National Women's Law Center. This is a shockingly expensive loophole, as the cost of maternity care and delivery can reach $25,000.

Turns out that YOU are now paying for not only your own health care, but the health care of millions of Americans who, until you so graciously supported the new health care mandates, would have had to cover their own expenses out of their own pockets.

How’s socialism and ‘spreading the wealth around’ working out for you now?

What's more, the ACA's 'essential health benefits' that all plans must cover includes some male-specific benefits, such as aneurysm preventive screening tests for men of a certain age

Earlier this week, CBS' This Morning featured the story of Dianne Barrette, a woman whose insurance plan does not meet the new ACA requirements while the plans being offered to her which do are more expensive. CBS omitted from the report was that in addition to being inadequate, the plan she currently receives doesn't cover hospitalizations, something that could have bankrupted Barrette.

The problem with these anecdotal reports, in which CBS focuses on a so-called victim of the ACA, is that they misleadingly carve out a sliver of the population as representative of the whole. And even then, the background and context of the stories presented are sacrificed.

Fox News' use of this type of spin on the ACA recently backfired when Sean Hannity's anecdotal "victims" of the health care law turned out to be beneficiaries.

As Pam Kehaly, the president of Anthem Blue Cross in California, reported, she received a letter from one woman who saw her insurance rates rise by 50 percent due to Obamacare.

“She said,‘I was all for Obamacare until I found out I was paying for it,’” Ms. Kehaly said, in the Los Angeles Times.

Source: Washington Times

It was an awesome idea when this woman thought that Barack Obama or some capitalist pig republican was going to pay for it.

Everything the government gives you is TAKEN from someone else.

"something that could have bankrupted Barrette."

So, now everybody is "Too, big to fail."

And, at all costs.

Jefferson said: "....And to preserve their independence, we must
not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our
election between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude.
If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat
and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our
labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as
the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to
labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, and give the earnings of
fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily
expenses; and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us
bread, we must live, as they now do, on oatmeal and potatoes;
have not time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to

Fact check must have gotten his daily talking points from MSNBC.

Either that or he is a tiny little troll with no logic.

No he just is trying to help all those poor helpless proles that just aren't smart enough to take care of themselves.

As far as insuring mommy parts at my expense that is nothing more than theft. Being a man I can't get pregnant and my wife is beyond her child bearing years but when we had our family we used our privately supplied health insurance which we paid for ourselves.

That is called being a responsible citizen.

This troll thinks we should all be subjects but that is to be taken for granted since he is obviously incapable of caring for himself so he must confiscate other people's income using the full force of the government to make up for his own irresponsibility.

Theft is theft, period. This concept is very simple but I guess this guy is so blinded by his ideology that simple things get over looked.

Example: If I threaten you into giving me money because because I think I need it more than you that is theft.

If I threaten you into giving me money so I can give it to my girlfriend so that she can purchase birth control it is still theft.

If I threaten you into giving me money so that I can give it to a sick child it is still theft.

Just because some one might need money does not give them the right to take money by force of government which is STILL theft.

And just remember; "If you like the insurance you have now you can keep it. Period.". This is just another of the myriad lies that "Fact Check" is trying to gloss over by declaring that you can't keep your insurance because HE doesn't think it is good enough.

So either he is a good Obama apparatchik and will defend the lies of his messiah, is a very ignorant and vulnerable person who isn't bright enough to think and take care of himself,or is a naive little school child who thinks that Howard Zinn was a great historian or he is willing to let others steal for him because he is as dishonest as Obama.

Or all the above.

Or maybe he is just a douche bag.

A true cancellation is when someone gets a letter saying that she’s losing her insurance and cannot renew. That was common practice in the individual market for people with expensive conditions. Under the new law, no one will ever get a letter like that again. They cannot be turned down for insurance.

The so-called cancellation letters waved around at yesterday’s hearing were simply notices that policies would have to be upgraded or changed. Some of those old policies were so full of holes that they didn’t include hospitalization, or maternity care, or coverage of other serious conditions.

Republicans were apparently furious that government would dare intrude on an insurance company’s freedom to offer a terrible product to desperate people.
But they get like that when they lose time and time and time again. Poor poor righties. It's got to be hard being kicked to the curb at every turn. Makes me smile though.:-)
