of money. Labella said it is not going to be open 24 hours...Yeah Right.
It is like a community center. WTF
If you are a kid are you really going to go there and hang out? I don't think so.
I'm a grown ass adult and I would not go there to hang out. A police station in all areas of the city is a good idea, but we are not a big enough city for that.
Just one more way to waste city money what else is new?

I don't think having substations all over the city is a waste. But the amount of money they soaked into THIS building certainly was a waste.

Adorino Construction. The same guys who are building the new place on the corner of South & St. Vincent that Joan Scalise helped screw the neighboring Bosnian mechanic who wanted the spot to expand his business.

Wow I wonder how many hours Adorino spent in a certain residence instead of in the substation?

I wonder if it is going to take him a couple of years to build that too and go over his budget.
OH yeah that is right he has all the money we gave him.

As I wrote before in a previous post, the powers to be can't steal the money easily, unless they build something. Unfortunately, the Mayor in this case built nothing, he just covered up an old shack of a building to create anew. What kind of brand new structure could they have built for 370k ?? Remember this on election day.

Doesn't Labella have to repay the city 120K back for pension benefits he received. Could this be part of the reason why this 105K public safety center project turned into 361K......so that Labella doesn't have to pay back this $$ out of his pocket? This idea could be totally wrong, but it was your post I read above that contributed to this thought in my head. I'll repeat that I'm not saying this is what occurred, but its just something to think about.

No, La Bella I believe has to repay the state's retirement fund, not the city. I could be mistaken but that is the way I understood it.

A substation was needed, certainly. But for the kind of money they spent fixing that building, they could have done better starting from scratch or finding another piece of property. How does one survey and inspect a building and estimate $100K to refurbish it, yet it balloons to triple? Who did the estimating and inspecting, Stevie fucking Wonder? Wow, really.

You people are a bunch of idiots. I bet you all donated to the UPD when they were doing their recent phonathon fund raiser. You probably just wanted those cool little stickers to put on your cars so people will think you're a plain clothes police officer. Hahahaha, suckers! Roefaro and all his buddies just keep getting fat on all your hard work. How much did each of you donate to this "project"...50 dollars? Sure, why not give half your weekly paycheck to some greaseball rat who is just going to use it to smear tomato pie all over his friend Dan's belly.

Welcome to Utica, Mofos!!!

That's a nice little slush fund. These people have proven that they can't even build a treehouse that won't fall down in a light breeze.

your kidding me that they spent 300,000 to refurbish a small building..I cant believe that. They must have made a mistake and added another zero onto the number. In a city where you can go from one end to the other in about 5 minutes what the hell is the purpose of a building that now you have to man with at least two full time cops at about 60000 each.,just to sit around and wait for some lazy bum to go there and file a complaint that they were too lazy to go a half mile downtown to do.What a show, why didnt they just put a cop at the parkway rec center in a 200 desk to take reports.

300k does sound excessive.
