ILION —

The Village of Ilion is hosting a town hall meeting at 9 a.m. Monday at its Municipal Building at 49 Morgan St.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss job retention at Remington Arms, the largest employer in the community.

There recently has been concern about possible job losses at the gun manufacturer following proposed stricter weapons laws since the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Representatives from Remington Arms will be at Monday's meeting.

Who cares? Gun sales are at record highs. And Remington Arms has made billions over centuries by profiting off of American wars and the Military Industrial Complex. Now they want to cry?

No one is taking their guns, just saying we need responsible, common sense regulation. Any dumb headed politician that uses this company as a rallying cry against gun control should be required to live in a ghetto for a few months.

All they care about is the almighty dollar and the whole "American Institution" is nothing but marketing. Screw them and their corporate A$$E$!

Immediately following that meeting will be a meeting of the poor displaced bath salts manufacturers. What's next? Save the meth labs?

If it comes down to whether Remington decides to stay in Ilion, you can also blame our 2 Senators, Schmuck Schumer and his rubber stamp Gillibrand. It actually pains Schumer to have the military award a weapons contract to Remington since he's beyond a doubt the most anti-gun senator in the Senate. And that turncoat Gillibrand...she comes from a family of hunters and sportmen and was a target shooter herself at one time. She just another career politician who does Schmuck's bidding for him.

I agree. It's like introducing stricter knife laws on those that stab people to death or have their victims grinning ear to ear.

They deserve whatever they got coming to them. The Union there instructed all the employees to vote for Obama because they feared Romney would hurt Unions in the long run... So who do you think they voted for??

Romney signed an assault weapons ban as governor of Massachusetts.

Lets face it! Ilion, Mohawk, and Frankfort have been living on borrowed time. Remington Arms has had so many issues and problems in the past 20 years. You don't have to be a republican or democrat to see it. Gun laws will be its demise.... too bad the Ilion residents like Keeler haven't done anything except put band aids on it!
Maybe, if they'd tried harder to get new business in Utica and the Mohawk Valley, the Ilion crack heads would have more remedial jobs to go to except fast tracks, McDonald's, and Tony's pizza! Have you seen the combined graduation rates of our students?
Let it go.....and let the inbreeding continue.

Absolutely correct. All these proposals do is over regulate law abiding citizens. To reference the other poster...I'm quite sure the people in "the ghettos" are certainly not obtaining their guns legally and they are certainly not using them legally either.

whats funny is if someone owns a gun and only one gun the gov. is banning it and they have to give it up and if they dont have the money to buy a new gun they are shit outa luck and their rights are violated because its a burden on them to get rid of their gun because no one will buy the gun in another state in fear of the gun ban there also and thier rights are being violated because its the only gun they have,,, in all reality they are takeing the gun rights away from someone who doesnt have the means to buy another one
