Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to reply with your recommendations. I went to the new trackside recently and it was delicious. Definitely try it :) I wish that there was more to do in this city :(
Sure thing. I've been here for just over a decade, and I know what you mean. I don't have family here, and the friends i make tend to move away in three years... but I have a decent job. I'm not exactly the most positive person in Utica, but when I see another displaced person looking for guidance on how to "deal with" living in Utica, I try to help out a little by pointing out what I (or my friends) like about the region. You can't ignore the negatives, because it's obvious that Utica is missing a lot... so you need to hold onto the few positives and hope that they don't leave, get defunded, or go out of business.

I'll try the Trackside. Last I was around there, they were closed for renovation or something like that.

Oh and if you want to stay away from the bars to be by yourself for a little while, there are a few coffee shops...

Tramontane Cafe: https://www.facebook.com/pages/TRAMONTANE-CAF...
They generally stay open late, super awesome staff; kitschy, artsy, "indie" community vibe... Thursday poetry nights, bands on Fridays/Saturdays, and Open Mic on Sunday evenings. The second floor has Yoga classes if you're into that kind of thing.

Cafe Domenico: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cafe-Domenico/...
Another great coffee shop to feed people that attend events at the Uptown Theater. They have a multi-purpose room for rent next door called, "The Other Side." However, they do not have Wifi if you need that.

Florentine Cafe: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Florentines-Ca...
Place to go after you leave Marquee Cinemas for a coffee and dessert. A little bit of a "fast food" attitude.

Utica Roasters: https://www.facebook.com/uticacoffeeroastingc...
Where people buy locally roasted coffee.

...and the Barnes and Noble if you REALLY need a Starbucks (btw... the closest standalone Starbucks are on the rest stops on I-90, otherwise you'll need to travel to Syracuse)

Ok! I've heard great things about them. Did you go to the Genessee one or the New Hartford Shopping Plaza location?
