Peepers might not be your style. But BenGees is a cool club with lots of good people and reasonable drink prices. And on Thursday nights the pickled eggs are 2 for $1. You really can't beat that. But be careful: if I down more than six I have wild, sulfur farts for a couple of days.

Well, if you're serious, then head to Turningstone for Exit 33 or Lava. There are probably some bars that are nice around Utica, but they've changed since I've stopped going.
If you want something a little smaller and more local, go to the Dev for live music, Green Onion for the hipster bar, and maybe Varick Street... Do people still go to Varick Street?

For dancing, I definitely will recommend Lava. As much as I dislike Turningstone, I can't deny that they have the best dance venue from Syracuse to Albany.

As for clothing... well you'll have to ask a woman. You definitely won't find the answer on Topix.

Good luck!

Thank you, where is the Green onion? Have you been to the tailor and the cook ?

Yes... Tailor and Cook is very nice ambiance... good food, although maybe a little pricey for most Uticans. The two or three times I've been there the food has been delicious. They're "locavore," so imagine the hilarious "Is the Chicken Local?" skit from Portlandia. Definitely a nice date night kind of place without having to drive too far. Have reservations, or else you might be waiting on a typical Saturday night (unless the crowd has died down recently... but it seems like the lawyer crowd brings in the money)

Green Onion is on Genesee Street next to the "Uptown Theater" and across the street from (and the same owners as) "Cafe Domenico." It's a little small... but a decent place to bring your friends for some hipstery brews. Makes it less awkward to go there if you know some of the locals... several of the young local photographers, musicians, and sometimes the younger MVCC faculty/staff hang out there.

Few more local dance-ish venues that were brought to my attention... However, I can guarantee that Lava is going to be way better (and worth the door charge) than these venues... Especially for holiday parties.

Space 26: I haven't been there in six years, and they changed management. Used to be the "nicer" cocktail bar in the area, but I don't know what it's like now

Shots: No clue, but it's name gets thrown around occasionally on Facebook. It might just be a sports bar that has bands.

Strut: Another one that gets thrown around on Facebook once in a while.(Maybe I have a friend that bartends there) I've only gone there once, and it was for a benefit for Munson William, so the customers were rather old that night. I don't know what it's like normally...

Listen cutie, don't discount BenGee's on Columbia. It's a real bar for real people. Lots of happening guys like Tubbs, BW Fordplow, Guido Sarducci and me hang out there, so you're sure to get laid if you play your cards right. Stop down this weekend.
