I didn't see your offer. Same old Utica grudges. Can't be happy for someone. If the NY Giants were going to come here, you would complain.
The negative people are starting to loose and the positive people are starting to win. It must suck for you. The sad thing if everyone used their talent to do something positive to help the city,we would be unstoppable.
But the negative nellies choose a more self serving agenda, filled with hate, anger, jealousy and despair. Sad. Very sad.
it has nothing to do with negative people .. it has to do with the moment the property was put in the citys hands they didnt post it for sale to the public they posted it to the friends and family and didn't give anyone else a chance bid now that the news reported the bid without it even being posted to the public the bider had an advantage to bid first without it even being publicly offered it was offered on the side to a friend and or person who approached the city before they even bought it and or took it over for tax ,,anyone can go to the city and bid his offer can be rejected someone should go bid more then their would be a bidding war and people should who have the money to bid and the news should encourage them and the city should advertise the property so they can get the most money for the property its what any tax payer would do if they want to get the most for their own property,, for the city leaders to believe other people don't have the means to buy and or rebuild this property is wrong and disrespectful to the city population

they didn't offer it to the public and or advertise it for other people to bid and this is and was wrong also if the people who are buying it has tax bills and or codes violations and or loans not up to date from the city is not eligible to bid

they also have to show funds that they have the money to rebuild the property and sign an agreement with the city that they will rebuild and have to be complete within a time frame.. just like the sullvian building

Sorry but not a grudge, Just facts, That the Mayor is doing some back door deals, After everyone is done slapping each other on the back, Telling each other what a great deal this is, then 3 to 5 years when nothing happens, You will see something is JUST not right whit this deal.
It's a local person that bought it. They are contractors. They have a history with the city. They restored another old building. Please, use your talent to move the city forward. You are either part of the problem or part of the solution. The negative nellies have been the vocal minority. You will soon become extinct, because people are sick of hearing your message.

What a truly exciting time to be an Utican. It's a great time to invest. The city is coming back. Like it or not. I for one love it. This is my city. I am proud of it.

The son of the person who wants to buy this building is one of the people that was part of the GroWest scandle. He is like the number one man on the list. He embezzled close to a million or more dollars.

Don't you want the Mayor to solicit a sale from people that are local with a track record? You would be critical if he did nothing. Any business that was interested could have come forward, it was no secret that the city was looking for an investor. Do you want someone from out of town again? How has that been working out for us?

If you want to make offer,I am sure you could still can. It has to go through Urban renewal and the common council fir public hearing. Anyone can object to the sale.

What would be a very EXCITING time,Is to have most of the city roads fixed and repaired,

This HSBC is just another mayor scumbag political rerun patronage deal anyone who saw the LAST 40 of them knows it. That's what billion dollar companies say so that should stand for smallfish too. Good luck with that big hotel and the gweedo pack. It IS amusing from over 700 miles away but scarier up close!

More investment means more people paying taxes. Sales tax, property tax, payroll tax and every other tax. That helps get the roads fixed. You sound like a real idiot.
Your brain is EXTINCT.
Keeping buildings vacant does not help get roads fixed. Rotten logic. You can't argue with stupid people.

It's people like you that want to sabotage the success of the city. You would make an awful mayor.

Long live Utica. Great job people!

Definition of motive (n)
Bing Dictionary
mo·tive [ mṓtiv ]
reason: the reason for doing something or behaving in a specific way
causing motion: capable of causing or producing motion
causing somebody to do something: tending to make somebody want or be willing to do something

Who would be against this?

Who are the clowns that have been trashing the mayor and the administration since day one?
Who is looking to promote their political agenda because they want to run for mayor or other office?
Who is jealous of other success?

Guess that sums it up. Oops,Sam and all you other hating Negative people.

So far I haven't heard anything about a PILOT or grants or low interest loans. Are we to believe that Pezzolanella is putting its' own money into this project and paying full taxes? If so, bravo for the mayor. It will take millions to rehab that building enough to make it habitable again.

The more likely scenario is that there is a lot of information regarding this sale of public property that we are not getting. Just like with the hockey team, connected people are probably getting all of their ducks in a row and another taxpayer funded scheme will be sprung on the people of Utica in the guise of economic development. Watch for that. I think that as with many things like this the only people who get their economy developed are the developers.

These are some of the same people who were involved with GroWest. what ever happened with that? Are there still cases pending? It was a hot topic for a while and then just fell off. How come?

If this is a good thing Great. But somethings should take place.
All back taxesetc payed to city by new ouwner at time of closing the sale.
Owner should pay for all renovation with their own funds, not grants or any kink of loan with city. No tax breaks, city needs this money.
After sale city should and no financial responsibility with the biulinding. If owner do well fantastic! If not city will not hold the bag! Just my opinion.

$1000 is the minimum bid the URA is allowed to accept for a property. Often, bidding is deliberately delayed on properties in order to allow time for more bidders to come forward, maximizing the City's potential return. In this case, there was no public bidding process. It appears the Mayor's office simply handed the building out as largesse to whoever it liked.

It's a dishonest, back-door deal, and a clear violation of stated procedure.

I sincerely hope Mr. Vescera, whose ward the building is in, and who is a voting member of the URA board, is paying attention to this. He is frequently outspoken about fairness in URA proceesings. Perhaps he will bring his typical combativeness to the proceedings.

Probably too much to hope for, however.

I could pay 2,000 but that is about it.

I can not put 2 million. So really he got the building for $2,001,000. You still have time to block it. You can object at URA netting Thursday. Then again at the common council meeting. If you are truly interested bring your business plan. Put your money where your mouth is. Otherwise shut up because you are nothing but hot air. Put up or shut up is the old saying.
