For someone to provide a list of Linda Romano's accomplishments as NH Library President. Its only been a week.

What we do know however:

Linda Romano's accomplishments so far:

-Knowingly submitted a grossly overblown $1,000,000 budget to the people of of New Hartford that would have resulted in yet another tax increase. Result: rejected by voters of New Hartford. FAIL

- Threatened the people of New Hartford with draconian cuts to library hours and services if they dared to reject her million dollar budget. Result: FAIL

- Allowed then Library Director Hans Plembeck to submit a falsified required document to the NY State Government. Result: FAIL

- Allowed then Director to knowingly use the library's security cameras to spy on library patrons. Result: FAIL

- Encouraged discord among Library Trustees by encouraging them to turn on two of their own. Result: FAIL

- Actively encouraged resigning Library Trustees to publicly blame fellow Trustee Ed Wiatr for their resignations. Result FAIL

- Support Library Employee Roy Senn to use the NH Library name and image in his blog to criticize Donna Donovan, the Observer Dispatch, Library Trustee Ed Wiatr, NH Town Councilman Don Backman, Town Supervisor Pat Tyksinksi and numerous Town residents who were perceived not to support the NH Library enough

- Encouraged Library Employee Roy Senn to use his Library Tortoise blog to actively campaign against Town Supervisor Pat Tyksisnki's reelection campaign as well as Town Councilman Don Backman's election campaign. Result: FAIL

- Gave away $16,000 in taxpayer money as a retirement gift to former Director Hans Plembeck all the while admitting giving him the money was against NH Library Policy. Result FAIL

- After giving away $16,000 in taxpayer money to a former library employee Romano has the audacity to cry poverty that she doesn't have enough money to run her library. Result FAIL

- Voted for the Library to continue to post over 64 grotesque signs all over the library's magazine racks in order to guilt NH residents into supporting a massive library budget increase. Result: The Library's magazine racks look like trash and it has made the NH Library the laughing stock of the Mohawk Valley. FAIL

- Ineptly manages the Library budget. Result: Library under performs in providing quality service at a reasonable cost. Also, Linda's Library is outclassed by other local Libraries like Waterville that do much more with less money (Observatory, Solar arrays, full magazine racks). FAIL

So why is Linda Romano allowed to continue as Library Trustee President? What has she done right?

Please stop with your redundant rants! It's obvious a select few are reposting under different names to keep this thread on top of the Topix list. Give it up, already! I am a regular library patron and I can tell you that you and your groupies are in the minority. You obviously have an agenda and you mistakenly think that everyone else in NH agrees. I hate to break it to you...but you and your few cronies are making asses of yourselves. Give it up already...we're sick of hearing about it.

Well all I can say is that its not going away until:

A) Someone comes on here and lists concrete positive contributions of Linda Romano

B) Linda Romano resigns for the good of the Library

My question is, if you use the NH Library why do you want to see it run into the ground under Linda Romano's careless and incompetent leadership?
way it is

Let it fail and become a burden on taxpayers. Until she gets hauled away in a straight jacket, she's not going anywhere anytime too soon.

Took my teenagers for a visit yesterday and sure enough, those ugly black and white signs are plastered all over the magazine racks saying "this magazine is no longer available due to budget cuts".

First of all, the whole thing looks like a bloody mess. Is this what Linda Romano thinks represents our town.

Secondly, I resent, I mean strongly resent, getting the heavy handed guilt trip whne I just want to relax in the Library. What the heck is Romano thinking? That we all would read that mess and then storm Butler Hall demanding more money for the Library? Who's kidding whom?

Disappointment seems to be the best way to describe our NH Library. You hear that word frequently. It needs a lot more work and care than it's getting now. It is a mess.

Has the library done a funding drive or made any attempt to obtain donations or raise funds so magazines can be replaced on the shelves? Most libraries would make an honest attempt to do something to address issues such as this...

I tried to offer donating a magazine subscription but the library wasn't interested in my help at all. I guess all they really care about is making political hay with those awful signs on the magazine racks.

Unfortuently, the probelms at the library won't go away until Linda Romano goes away. However, Romano won't go away until Tyksinki goes away. Time for Tyksinki to go.

You again? The missing magazines don't bother me at all. Go to another library if you can't afford a subscription. There are plenty of libraries in the area. Go to another one if you don't like this one or Linda Romano. I don't see any mismanagement at all. I go there to borrow books and print some things. All of the women there are helpful and friendly.

A lot of people are switching to other libraries. For example, Waterville is rapidly gaining popularity with New Hartford Residents. Its in a new, clean building, it has an Astronomical Observatory with telescope, its powered by a large solar array, it has friendly staff and it has full magazine racks. It also does all of this with a smaller budget then New Hartford's Library without all of the political baggage. I guess you can say that the Waterville is everything the New Hartford Library isn't but should strive to be! I highly recommend it to anyone living in New Hartford. Its only a short 15 minute drive away.

So if the Library sells all of their tickets they should net abut $35,000. Will they use that money for magazine subscriptions? Probably not. After, look at all of the valuable advertising they get with those "This magazine is not available due to budget cuts" signs. Why give that up. LOL

It doesn't matter how great a guy Eugene Romano he is. His daughter Linda is running down the New Hartford Library through her incompetence and indifference. The only reason the Town Board hasn't asked for her resignation is because she hides behind the Romano name.

Can anyone name one positive thing she has done for the New Hartford Library that would justify her continuing in office as Library Trustee President?

FAIL

I agree. I think there is consensus now that Linda Romano is inept and running our library into the ground. The problem is, she won't go becuse Tyksinski is afraid of her. Want to improve our library, get rid of Romano. Want to get rid of Romano, get rid of Tyksinski. Vote to do that on September 10th!

I wonder if I purchase a ticket if I can add a stipulation on my personal check that the library profit from that raffle ticket be used to buy a magazine subscription. The library is making $50 on the sale of each ticket. People should write on their personal check (or include a letter with payment) that all profits from the raffle ticket(s) purchased be used to replenish magazine subscriptions for the library...
