Why are these doctors so "slow minded"? Seriously, these doctors wouldn't hack it in a city hospital. The nurses are all clueless too. There were so many policy violations there, commonsense stuff. My job brings me to a variety of different hospitals, medical offices, etc. This one shouldn't even be open. This hospital is worse than Rome Memorial when it comes to patient care. As for surgery, they are pretty much the same.

****** If you can, leave the city for medical care whenever possible. Oneida Hospital is a good choice for this area ******

That hospital hires whoever is willing to work there. They don't want to pay so the good doctors and nurses don't go there. The med staff don't care about what u want one bit. As soon as their nursing students get experience they leave... idk... Oneida is prob the best...

As a St. E's grad who worked there after graduation I know first hand that they pay better than both St. Luke's and Upstate

We don't care if we kill you, we just hide it with paperwork, takes months to be forced to hand it over and by then we fixed it, your dead and we still get paid. Stay away from Cooperstown, they have too much experience. We need guinea pigs.

That word "idiot" is a common vocabulary word used by a doctor I know. He has his staff monitor this forum 24/7.

In all seriousness, if need medical care for a serious issue it is in you best interest to look at Upstate, or even Albany if from the valley. For routine or non life threatening care, your family Dr at Slocum Killem is probably fine, services rendered at St E's or Lukes will suffice.

Be prepared though, be suspicious if you are referred to 2 or 3 local "specialists" who all seem equally baffled by your case as your primary was.

I say with experience, without bashing specific Dr's who are simply not as good as the "big city" variety....better Dr's work in bigger/better hospitals for a reason. Lesser Dr's work in smaller markets for a reason. Not that there arent capable local family Dr.'s, just beware if he is prolonging your return to health, or worse, by keeping you local.

Whatever you do, be extremely concerned if faced with the Slocum Shuffle. If you have seen more than 2 Dr's at Slocum for one condition, with no apparent diagnosis or plan for care, run as fast as you can and call to have your records faxed to Upstate.

Obviously you are a blonde with a stupid statement like that. All you care about is how a physician looks? Duhhhh
You make all women look and sound like idiots with comments like that, now crawl back under your rock!

I can only speak for myself in stating I find the care provided by physicians at St E's to be just fine. For example, they have a resident program for young doctors that (as I understand it) is recognized as one of the best. Teaching hospitals are often among the very best.

Another person made comment on how good physicians are drawn to larger facilities. This may be true but it doesn't mean those who practice medicine in smaller cities have any less competencies. The choice of where to receive your healthcare is yours. No one forces anyone to not seek out the very best care. Is the healthcare system perfect? Of course not. However, do your homework and work with your doctor(s) to ensure you receive the best care for you.

You people are just pathetic if your so
Worried about what the hospitals do wrong then go get off the computer and go to school and see if you could run it any better do you have any idea what goes into running a hospital? The daily problems that people run into because of the stupidity of the community? Do you ever actually see what goes on behind the closed doors ? How hard it is for the nursing staff ? You have no idea what those hospitals put up with on a daily basis... Getting beat up my drunks and drug addicts because they can't refuse care... People die everyday not because what the doctors or the staff do that's wrong. people die because that's life that's what happens. So get off your high horses and please learn facts before you run your mouths

The doctors at St. Elizabeth's are great. Sometimes you just have to find the right doctor whether it is with St. Elizabeth's or some place else.
