DOT doesn't have debris disposal crew yet???

I was shocked, yet not too much, when I read last night's story from WKTV about the Fay Street building demolition. They were making sense so far when describing how they're going to do it and whatnot...but it was this part that really showed the DOT's true colors:

"The implosion contractor will fence in the area and fallen debris. The next contract goes out to bid March 20. That contractor will dispose of the debris."

So all this time, you've been sitting around with your thumbs up your as*es and don't have a contractor set up to clean up the debris yet? Nooooooo, it would make too much sense for you to have that taken care of already so you can start cleaning up as soon as the waste hits the ground. That wouldn't be in compliance with standard Utica procedure, which states that this area wants to look like a dump for as long as humanly possible. Must be the DOT wanted to get as much "sitting and coffee drinking time" in as possible. I'm sure Palmieri could have stepped in, too, but it would have required him to turn away from his own personal agendas, including the useless act of putting a Stewart's in on Culver. Yes, another place for the dregs of society to rob. Why didn't you direct your attention to revamping the UPD to help stop the crime? But, I digress. I'm getting off topic. Shame on the DOT (and Palmieri too) for dropping the ball on this one and not having their ducks in a row and the contractor ready with shovel-in-hand as soon as the debris hits the ground. Granted, there will probably be some foundation that will still need to be demolished, but the majority of the waste can go. Get with the program, DOT and Palmieri! Clean this dump up as soon as you can; not let it sit around and be an eyesore like the majority of Utica's structures.
