I see a few guys come into the food bank places, like the one on bleeker, and they scam the system by using fake names and stories. Isn't anyone there really checking ID's and background on who can use the food for their families?

You're kidding, right? IDs & background checks to get food from a charity whose mission is to distribute free food?

This post is incorrect. The food bank on Bleecker St. is available to residents once a month. In order to get a food package you must show ID which is copied and filed. The file is checked each time you sign in. However, anyone is welcome to come in any day for free bread or free clothes without showing ID. Just sign in.
