extended school day

odd thattimeHere we go again. The UCSD decides to implement anextended day program. Just like the modules, they have no plan in place. They don't have teachers, they send out press releases hoping to gather parent support. Do all students have to attend? Do the parents have any choice? Is it only for students not passing their tests? Will the grant cover the additional costs associated with extending the day? This Eccelston lady seems out of touch. Most teachers can't wait for the school year to end. Now, those teachers in the selected buildings have to stay longer and lose time in the summer? Good luck getting that to happen. They are trying to get a contract. You honestly think they will agree to work longer after they haven't gotten their raises. That wil lbe the first thing they complain about. It just seems odd for the district to throw this out in public without having everything planned out. The modules thing is still a mess.Adapt? Adopt? Make up your mind

First Common CORE, now a longer school year. WTH?! Kids deserve a summer away from school. I say implement the longer school days to the disruptive kids and immigrants who don't speak, read or understand English.

I think back to when I was in school and I remember how much I looked forward to summer vacation. Myself and every other student needed that time to enjoy ourselves and be able to expand our horizons beyond just a classroom. I will fight against this extension as all of you should also. Parents that are in favor of this just want the schools to be used as a babysitting service. What kills me is that those in favor of it are non working stay at home drainers on our society who just want their kids housed somewhere and out of their hair. Say no to extended time for schools.

Had anyone thought of what those kids/teachers will go through in a cny summer, inside old buildings with no AC? Is not easy to learn when its 90 degrees and 80% humidity.. Idiots
