Dreading Valentine's Day

How many guys are catching hell for not wanting to take their girl out on Thursday night? The day is nothing more than a major scam designed by the floral industry as an excuse to gouge some poor sucker!

Find a non-commercial way to express your love. A handmade card, cook dinner, run her bath, etc. If she's a real woman, she'll appreciate it more than a $100 dinner.

I'd be happy to make it through Mardi Gras here today. Talk about commercialized half the family shows up for this every year now it's getting nuts. Valentines was a cinch compared to this crowd.

Well, Being married more than 25 years, the novelty of the day wears off. I would prefer to sit and watch a movie after a long day with my wife. Unfortunately, women never get over the novelty. They believe the day is theirs, not OURS. So, men will continue to have to play the game.

Some women are not into all that commercialism. If she is, she's superficial. Been married many years, all he has to do is tell me he loves me everyday, and keep being the wonderful guy that he is, that's all I need. :)

Yes, you are correct. I would do anything to be able to see her and touch her and speak with her again. The only thing I can really do is join her.

Correct. So why can't we just share the day with a glass of wine, maybe a movie, etc.... why does it have to involve the bells and whistles ? Cheap ? No. Lazy? Definately not. Tired ? Definately. I believe both parties should share the day, but not necessarily have to go to dinner, buy flowers, chocolates, etc. Watch the name calling.

Have it your way, leave others to share their way. Some are tradional, apparently you're not. BTW, glass of wine, movie at home, sounds like any night not a day to honor love, romance and the one you love above all else.

I dread it because I don't have a "special someone". There are many out there that feel this way. In fact, some of us celebrate "un-valentines day" just to not feel so left out!
It sucks for us singles out there.
If you have someone very special in your life... treat them to a little something special at the very least, no matter how trivial. He or she will appreciate it.

Valentine's Day came about because an emperor banned marriages so that the men would go to war. Emperor Claudius believed that marriage made men weak. Still St. Valentine continued to marry people secretly.

It is believed that once the emperor found out, St. Valentine was executed on February 14th, and we celebrate on behalf of that happening.

Thus 14th February became a day for all lovers and Valentine became its Patron Saint.

So even if you’re single you should still be happy for others. Don't be a stinker. Happy Valentine’s Day :)
