Come on seriously they are really goin to go door to door to find unlicensed dogs! The city needs the money that bad!!! Why don't they go door to door making sure people's houses are up to date and live able. So what happens if try come take the dogs the humane society can't afford to take care of them. They are constantly begging for money every time I turn on the tv. Why don't they go door to door to get people of their asses and get them to work or go clean up the city.

I think the comptroller's office employees should be made to go door to door and collect the taxes that are over due.

More unregistered guns in this city than unregistered dogs.

My point exactly. When they knock, don't answer. There is no law about opening your door to strangers. Unreal. This will lead to idiots posing as animal control officers just to get unsuspecting people to open their homes to intruders. What's next ? They want to come in to your home and search through your closets looking for automatic weapons ?

This is highly illegal. The cops couldn't even go door to door looking for illegal things. They need probable cause!! I can't believe more people aren't complaining about this really. What's next? A door to door campaign looking for guns or other illegal things? There is proof my dog is registered at the city's office. It has all the info they need. So I WILL NOT be answering my door.

Back in the 70's to the early 80's i lived in west Utica. A school crossing guard would come to the door to collect the dog license fee every year. She would show up without an appointment and stand on your porch until you handed money over. Elaine Dobroziej was her name(now deceased>) Moral of the story being, don't start paying the fees and they won't find you unless a neighbor or relative that hates you rats you out.

They should make the cops collect the money in their own neighborhoods--they certainly have the time because they spend at least half of their patrol time in their house with the patrol car running outside in their driveway.

If someone shows up at the door just tell them yer kids are watching Lassie. They can't come in without a warrant.

What about all the slobs who let their cats run and shitty everywhere. Go after them too.

A lethal injection in your arm will do humanity more good than slaughtering animals who were never cared for. And line their owners up right next to you so they can get theirs as well..you r filth.

Seriously, this is 100% illegal and unconstitutional. Anyone that actually answers a single question or lets them in their house is an idiot. I hope they come to my house. My dog is not licensed and is only outside for about 5 minutes a few times a day to go to the bathroom in the yard, which is fenced in.

They have no right whatsoever to demand a license for a dog they never caught in public without a tag on. Unless they catch your dog roaming, they can do nothing.

I will answer my door, let them look right at my dog and then tell them to go their merry way until they get a warrant. That would be like saying, "let's go door-to-door doing a drug check". Bright idea dummy. Too bad you can't just go door-to-door with no probable cause and/or warrant.

Waste of time and resources. Go fix the budget and the city.

It's good that you have a fenced in yard. Every dog, no matter how old or what size or breed needs to take a walk on a leash at least twice a day. For the health and happiness of your pet and yourself, try walking him/her, please.
