Public Employees Get Cadillac Pensions?

Teachers teach your kids. Cops/firefighters protect you and your family. DPW workers keep neighborhoods clean. They do a service for the public and in most cases receive a pension partly because their salaries were not nearly as astronomical as the private sector. Rather than bitching about their pensions, you should be thanking them every freaking day.

There's way too many of you out there bashing those receiving pensions and you're doing just what anti-union SOBs like the Koch Bros want you to do. A very low %age of workers belong to unions anymore, much to the delight of the wealthy. Rather than spend your time bashing unions for what they provide to others, you should be demanding those benefits yourself. Don't you want benefits? Maybe you trust your boss, or CEO, or whoever. Good luck to you when you're asked to work longer hours for jack. Use the brain the guy upstairs gave you.

The salary disparity is a myth and has been for some time now.

They should be thankful that taxpayers haven't rebelled against the staggering cost of their pensions and healthcare.

Workers in the private sector don't belong to unions in the numbers they once did because union demands payed a huge part in driving many of the union jobs offshore or to right to work states.

Demand? Demand from who? The businesses that are struggling to stay competetive with foreign countries and right to work states that don't have staggering public sector costs that we are forced to bear in New York? You just don't get how the economy works do you? Adn, as long as you get yours you don't care either it seems to me. You don't understand is that in the private sector businesses can't just reach into the pockets of taxpayers the way that is done in the public sector. In the private sector there is competition and if a business can't be competetive because of labor and benefit costs they cease to exist. A little while back a group of Hostess union workers demanded more. You might want to look up how that turned out.
u should be thankful

apparently you have never ran a company!!!! To put it simple to simple minds like yours is this. If you hired a guy to cut the lawn at your house for 20 years and paid him 400 per month..... Then after the 20 years you had to pay him 1/2 to 3/4 of the 400 for the rest of the lawn mowing guys life how would you like that??? Is this a simple way to put it for yaa

Wow! Very mature. Obviously a real "people" person. With your arrogant attitude, I suspect you've run many companies and most likely sucked your employees dry. The Koch boys love gals like you. That said, the sooner you get their hands out of your pants, the better.

what about answering the question!! Would you pay the guy that mowed your lawn a lifetime retirement after he did his job mowing your lawn? Yes I do run a very viable company that's been around for more then 40 years and more then half the people that work for me have been there 20 plus years. They get paid well and save for there own retiement. If I was resposable to pay there retirement I would have closed my doors the first year. I hope the pension system goes broke very soon ,and I believe it will. Then all you cheese eaters will have to get a real job and save for your retirement. Don't count on it being there very long hahahahhhahahhahah you bumb. I may have a job cleaning toilets for ya when your checks stop

the truth is hard to face for you and I understand why it's because you've been brainwashed for many year. And who know you may have been a victim of a family of blood suckers growing up. Your situation is the same as a welfare recipient I understand I guess. But getting back to the facts you will be cleaning my toilets when you hit the wall as your pension program (welfare) just drys up. It's a waste of time trying to debate with a cheese eater like yourself, now go to work Monday so you can get some sleep on the job!

Public employees didn't make as much as private workers years ago so pensions were a bone. Now due to the fact that private jobs went to china japan, and everywhere else the few private jobs left pay crap because of weak employee power to negociate so the public jobs pay more now because they had politicians to give them raises with taxpayer money. Now everyone left are jealous that public employees got it good both ways but I got news for you ,they still don't.Everyone is up to their neck in debt, no matter who you are and how much you make unless you have money and live like a hermit.

Then they should be happy with what is given to them and not bitch for more when there is no more to give them. Many have a sense of entitlement that the deserve more and their unions fuel that fire.
Besides, there are many in the public sector who do get paid for doing nothing.
that's just plain stupid, stupid.

The jobs that left over seas are the union jobs that had enough of the employee sucking them dry. Your 100% wrong about the private sector making more then the public sector, the public sector makes ALOT more then the private sector that's y all you towns villages states and federal level jobs are going bust (Bankrupt) the post office is losing 25 million a week!!! A direct result of the over paid and pension. The bail outs of the auto companies. The city you live in is going broke as a result of the over paid and pension. Open your eyes and understand its over your contracts have destroyed the future of the union ,that you people helped destroy because of you greed. Your kids won't have the same retirement your getting hell you won't keep your retirement. It's going to end up bankrupt. Now one want to answer my question I posted because they can't without make ing there argument pointless

you moron keep talking all you want the pension system will be here for a long time to come. As far as myself,Iam collecting a retirement pension after working 38.5 years. The amount of my pension is none of your concern, however I worked for it,I have earned it,and most importantly it is perfectly legal. I was a teacher for 24 and a half years and an administrator for 14 years. I never complained about any other honest hard working person received for pay,or benefits. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You haven't earned a free ride for!! Don't forget you were paid every day you came to work even days you didn't show up!! Why so you union people fell that the tax payers should pay you anything when you done working? What's wrong with saving for your own retirement? You a smart person I assume so answer the simple question. IF YOU Had a landscape company mow your lawn for 20 years and you paid that company to do the job, would YOU agree to pay this company for not mowing your lawn forever just because they serviced you for 20 years???????? I will bet you won't answer the question because you NO that would be a complete idiot if you did!!! Now that I put it very simple for you you'll understand why people have had it with the union people. Let see what spin you put on this question or you'll not answer because you know I am 1000% correct.
