And you thought it would be different? He is a big liar and loser in life. He is a worthless bum that has never had a pot to piss in. He and this city are a match made in heaven...both worthless.

Every one on topics should realize one thing, our elected officials and leaders in this community have only one thing in mind and that is "What is in it for me, my family and lackies"

What did you people expect, someone smart that will move the city into right direction? No person in his right mind will even consider running for a mayor in the city like that. Nobody is interested in Utica. My advice is move.

If anyone reading this where to be elected mayor... anyone. Don't you think you would give a job to someone you knew or helped you get elected.
Be realistic, give him a chance.

Your logic is what has caused this city to go from a once thriving beautiful city into a depressed going no where city with little to offer its citizens. With victory goes the spoils and it really seems Utica is spoiling rotten.

This happens everywhere not just Utica NY. Get over it. Not a big deal. I would hire the people that helped me out also. Doesn't make him a bad guy. It's just reality. Get over it. The way roefaro did it was disgusting with that fat slob labella.

Give Palmieri a chance....I voted Cardillo because he had the BEST credentials in EVERY department, regardless of his default on a loan 30+ years ago...He had a die-hard passion to prove a lot because of all the naysayers and the default..I believe he would have made a huge difference. Palmieri was my second choice..Let's give him a fighting chance, at the least.

When this city was a beautiful city and striving is when you had the most political patronage I remember how it always was

My logic has nothing to do with Utica's demise.
The loss of population is what's killing this city.
So... what causes the loss of population?
1) All the factories moved out.
2) Property taxes are just too high.
3) Utility costs can break anybodys back...A) National Grid B)water cost C) Even our gas prices are higher than other places.
4) Over abundance of non working, uneducated, welfare people drive people away.
5)Climate, most people simply enjoy milder weather.
What else KAMAKAZELL? you know everything. It surely isn't because a mayor gives his supporter a job.

The reasons you listed are right on the money. And they were caused by leaders with little insight for the future. Our city is a joke, it is a product of terrible nepotism political atmosphere. People with very little intelligence or qualifications have caused this city to regress. We have department heads that are ineffective, a corporation counsel that has never won a court case and has cost the city taxpayers millions over the years. We had mayors in the past that padded payrolls, public safety officials that cost us millions just to insure their egotistical fantasies. The factories moved out because most of them were sick of the politics in this area. We had chances but we blew them because of political bickering. The bottom line here is that all the problems you listed are a direct result of poor leadership and it is only going to get worse unless we find a leader with balls and corrects the wasting of tax dollars just to please their lackies and friends. Here are a few facts for you, 800,000 a year for leased vehicles for employees of this city, overtime in the UFD that averages over 1 million a year for an ambulance service that was never needed, police show up time for chiefs that average 8 thosand dollars a year a piece for 15 minutes every day and these guys do not evern hit the street, a public safety commissioner office with 2 secretaries 250 grand a year, benefits for part time workers, subsidizing a hotel with our taxdollars for 2 multi-millioniare families, and that is the tip of the ice berg. I will bet a 1000 dollars to a donut that bob palmieri will not correct any of these issues because to be truthful he was part of the problem for years when he was on the feed bag of our tax dollars. So now go blow smoke up someone's elses ass.

The problems in Utica are more the result of industries like Bendix, General Electric, Univac, the air base and Chicago Pneumatic moving out of the area than what any politician has done. Utica is a rust-belt city. There are dozens of Uticas in the Northeast. We are not unique. We are the result of a changing economic climate. That is not to excuse what has happened and what is happening at city hall. There have been a long string of incompetent mayors and councilmen in Utica. Politicians from both parties are equally to blame. But, the majority of the blame belongs to the people of Utica and their inability to accept change of any kind. We are a city of people who spend too much time looking backward and wishing for the “good old days” to return and refuse to recognize that until we embrace new ideas and new faces we will never see progress. That is the reason we keep electing the same people over and over again. The cities in the Northeast that have overcome their problems are the ones who realized that things were never going to be like they once were and that survival depended on them adapting to the new realities and finding innovative ways to overcome them. This will never happen in Utica until we elect new faces with new ideas and support those ideas.

Remember our motto, "We want things to get better but we don't want things to change".
