Did you see the reason given by the water company boss Beecher why he has to raise rates again and again. Since he took over the rates have gone up and up. There should be an investigation on why rates are constantly going up under his leadership. Who is on the payrol and how much are they getting paid. Why doesnt the OD investigate . This is rediculious.. The road crew don't make that much as I have been told so where goes the expense. He should be replaced by someone willing to make cuts . I have never heard of any cuts in the operation. He thinks along with the board members that the people are a money pit to draw from. Doesnt he realize as he raises rates people are going to use less and less and there goes the endless cycle of raising rates.. . Again he should be replaced .or board members should go.

let's see-if I use more water my bill goes up...If I use less water, my bill goes up. I think they call this double penetration. And Becher is wrong. Maybe his maintainence costs remain the same, but the number of employees doesn't have to. Don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining.

You think any of those board members would even think of lowering your water rates. Bova what a joke. Wasn't he a supervisor at the water company once. What happened there. Huh?

Just how many relatives friends and political hacks are on the payroll.Where is the list of employees on the payroll. How come there is never any layoffs. Is this how the sale of the water company ended up costing the people. We now have an authority that's uncontrolled and runaway with increases
What a stupid reason for water rates to rise.Does he take the people for fools.Less usage should mean a good thing. Less chemicals to treat. He should be reviewed and replaced with a person that wants to save and cut expenses.

Appointments are made by various city officals ,legislators, county officials and villages where they reside. You think that the politicians who appoint these suckers would have the taxpayers in mind and should be held accountable when rates go up as they appoint people who find it easier to go along with rate hikes rather that take a look at savings an use their feeble brains to make hard decisions an save the people some money. This area is going down the crapper and this is just another reason. High taxes, high water rates, high sales tax, large older and poor population. What good ingredients for a progressive area, They think he chip plant will save us. Think again... They will drawemployees from Syracuse just like the Casino does. What benefit to us when they take their paychecks home to Syracuse area.Keep up the good work you bungling fools.Grab for your families and friends while you still can

Your 100 percent right. Who was behind the sale. Where did all the sale money go..Who profited.the most. You people in the county dont realize just how much you got screwed on the sale and how much this authority has in mind to screw you down the road.Mr politician please watch just who you put in charge of that system.with the appointments to the board. What is their self interest just to be on the board. Is it just good community service..

Funny how Mr. Becher does not consider that all the new COUNTY Sewer District charges discourage people from using water ...

But this article is just a set up. MVWA just applied to expand service throughout Towns of Westmoreland, Kirkland, Frankfort and Schuyler. He will claim it will lower costs by adding new customers, but it will only have the opposite effect because it costs more to provide services to low-populated areas.

MVWA is a PRVATE company I bought property in 2000. My water bill was $164.00 or many years. I actually thought there was problem. With 4 apartments, I expected more.
Then suddenly it's over double! Then I see we are paying to fix the Sauquoit pump station to stop over flow to the Mohawk river-Yet NH pays nothing into this-WHY??
I got behind fast-then the big B shut me off, and took off a couple days leaving me without water-after I paid!!
Complain? to who? No over sight/no one to answer to. Ever notice how the water company has nice new vehicles all the time? Or how the employees make big bucks? great bennies and pensions.
Now we all contribute to saving our resources, do as they ask and limit use, and what's the reward? a bigger bill!
Well, just go down to city hall to pay the bill and see the expensive jewelry the girls wear, or the expensive clothes and cars they drive.
Hey-I worked in city hall and learned quick the ways of the one's in power positions. All have a vowel at the end of their name, or are related to one, or know who to kiss up to.
Utica had the chance to own the water company-rates would have been low- but the powers that be sold it-most likely to pay a civil suit. Knowing that the bulk of Utica residents are idiots/morons and don't speak English enough to grasp the issue.

This clown Becher is a piece of work! He claims that rates would be lower if the MVWA had a larger service area. I guarantee you that if they ever find a way to expand big time he will raise the rates and claim it's because a larger service area has higher operating costs. This guy has more excuses than MVWA has employees and on top of it all, he doesn't even live in the area served by the MVWA!!!!!

When a business loses revenue it first seeks tor cuts costs (payroll, operations efficiency, etc.). It then may seek new sources of revenue (cover areas of the water board that are not currently in scope). It would lastly seek to raise prices. Why in this instance is the first choice to raise prices. Have you cut staff as water usage has lowered? Have you increased operational efficiency to the greatest extent and passed that savings on to customers? Stop raising rates, as it discourages people from being efficient, and that seems counter to where the world's focus is today on energy savings.

The big question should be asked to the brains who sit on the board and the politicians who appoint them. What do hey actually do as board rmembers. They should be on Beechers ass about how he is raising rates and not cutting costs. The people are going to just take so much in this area. ROME doesent even have water metered, they just pay a flat rate.Beecher has doubled the water bills since he took office ,outpacing inflation and every other cost of living.Dennis Bova used to be supervisor down there and now is on the board . What does he have to say.
