Oh? I know someone who has one and unless it's something different,(which I didn't think it was) it doesn't have the texting feature. Maybe they just aren't aware it has it.

safelink wireless(tracfone)you get 71 minutes a month, no internet ring tones ect... lets you text 3 texts remove one minute or 1 takes away .33 minutes.
assurance wireless(Virgin Mobile)-200 minutes a month you can text, buy ring tones, surf the web, ect... but they are separate from the 200 minutes (which can only be used for phone calls)and need to have cash added to be available.
Neither "roll over" minutes the way a phone company normally does. What happens is how ever many you have left on the first of the month get subtracted from you allowed minutes so you never have more than 71 for SL and 200 fur AW,

If I may comment (and I will), there seems to be a rash of complaining here, about 'lazy' people on welfare. How many people posting on topix do so from their workplace, when they should instead be working and actually earning their paycheck?
Between Topix and Facebook/Myspace, workplace productivity in Oneida County must be at an all time low.
Just imagine the bandwidth that will be freed up when these "essential state workers" are furloughed.

You all don't understand SHIT! This cell phone thing is a good idea! I am a single mother of three(not by choice, my exhusbands). I work and take care of my family but I still recieve food stamps and medicaid! My lazy ex-husband does not pay his child support. I can not afford to pay all my bills, everything my kids need and a %*@#ing cell phone! Yes we need cell phones just like you all do! You all send texts, play on the enternet and bullshit! I need one incase im running late to get my kids or my car breaks down! SO WHO'S THE ONES THAT DON'T NEED CELL PHONES? OH, and by the way not everyone that is on welfare is lazy and doesn't work!!!! A@@HOLES!!!

Oh, my baby daddy sez hi too. Thanks for da cell phone. I got to go climb up on another dick now. First I got to drop my kids off at da welfare sitter. Then I will take a welfare cab to my welfare doctor to get my welfare birth control, which obviously I'm too stupid to use correctly, since I got three kids and no husband.

So, you get medicaid, food stamps and a free cell phone. Rather than calling those who provide these handouts names, you should be thanking them! And, since you have internet access, it appears you can afford your own phone - if you can't afford both luxuries (and they are both luxuries; neither a phone nor a computer with internet access is a necessity), you need to decide which is more important, pay for that and forego the other.

Until you travel down that road you will never know what the poor people live through. I have worked with really poor people trying to help them better themselves. Most really want to do better, but they just have the right tools to do it with. Amber may have been in a place where she had free internet, like the library, Slo Cum Dickson, both hospitals, even McDonald's. So don't judge a person just because they say they receive some help.

I think this has been going on for a while. Why do you think every black person in the city, hangin out with no job has a cell phone. Please use your welfare check to buy a belt!!

you're not too bright. Most companies nowadays have restrictions on the internet and where you can go - maybe if you worked - you'd know this -

Oh, cry me a river. Is it your job to feeeeel sorry for these people and help them feeeeeel better by giving them excuses? Constantly giving people more and more in the way of handouts and freebies does NOTHING to help them "better themselves". It makes it all that much easier to allow them to avoid doing just that.
