Would you vote for a person that is not a politician and not rich? Would you find it refreshing that a person that actually understands what hardship means and knows how to stretch a dollar? A person that knows you can't spend what you don't have. Do you think it would be a detriment?

You're talking a grass roots candidate. It has been done on all levels but you still have to get backing financially. You have to appeal to all levels of your constituency. The problem in NYS is the election laws are stacked in favor of the incumbents. The political parties are going to back their candidate unless there is some shenanigans involved with the incumbent. There will never be any hope in NYS the way the political bosses control everything. And the biggest problem is decent honest smart people don't run for political office because of sleaze they have to associate with from other politicians.

Thank you for your well thought answer. The dirty deals really needs to change. I am windering if with todays technology, internet forums, youtube, and social media could be a way to be heard with a loud enough message that can beat those backdoor deals.

You can get your message out on all the social media, esp. Youtube. You can put out a 5-10 minute sound byte and state your platform and give your most salient talking points and what you stand for. But I've always said I think NYS is the most politically corrupt state in the country.
