Utica vs. Turning Stone

The guy who ruined the election for republicans (Cardillo) is in the paper saying that we need to be 'partners' with the Nation. Conversely, it is clear that our Mayor is working for the citizens of Utica by trying to win a Casino spot. He is trying and I must give him credit.
HERE it Is: Will Cuomo deny Utica a riverboat casino because of Destito, bootlegger to the Indians? Why do our politicians work for the Indians before they work for taxpayers? Is Cardillo in the Tank? will Halbritter fund Cardillo's next ill-advised campaign? Why do our politicians think that the Nation is on our side? Doesn't EDGE kiss their ass on a daily basis?
I don't like Palmieri, but he's right on the money. Bring On the Riverboats! Allez bon temps roulez!

"We should not compete with an industry that employees (sic) our citizens" - Bob Cardillo
WHO does Cardillo think a riverboat casino in Utica will employ? Will Turning stone fire everyone because of competition? I'd like to see TS run without white folk or booze.
Remember, you pay taxes and they don't. Why should our government work for a different nation from our own? This is America, and TS is the Onieda Nation. Should we not grow wine in the fingerlakes because France makes really good wine also?

I would just say if you don't agree with them don't frequent their casinos and gas stations. I'm neither against or for them. I do what's best for me and what I want to do.

Cardillo mentions "Native American and Revolutionary War History"
By blocking our riverboats, Cardillo and Halbritter are recreating the Declaratory acts. see history. If the only casino we can have is an indian casino, That is like saying the only tea we can drink must be British tea. Why is Cardillo working so hard for a foreign power?

I thought Cardillo's column was terrific and made me sorry once again that he's not our mayor. My first thought while reading Palmieri's column was "I wonder who wrote this for him". I hope I live long enough to see the voters of Utica wake up!

the LAST thing we need here in Utica, NY is a riverbaost casino...all it brings in is more degenerates..that DOES NOT help the economy..if you want to piss your hard-earned money away, gor to TS and give it away! or give it to some poor family

After reading Cardillo, It sounds like he wants to hand over the harbor to the Nation. "The Nation can market Utica as a destination and package the harbor as an alternative to gambling..."
The Harbor is in the U.S. It was cleaned by our citizens for 100 million dollars, it is being designed by money from Federal and State Grants. No Nation money is being used for Utica.
Cardillo wants to take something funded by taxpayers, and give it to the Nation.

Cardillo also does not mention that the only reason the Nation is an economic powerhouse is because it has a Casino. If it didn't have a casino, none of our politicians would be kissing their asses at the Nation.
Furthermore if Utica doesn't get a casino, it will have a financial collapse. It has had a 35 year depression and is on the brink of bankruptcy. A casino is necessary to prevent total economic disaster.
If it works for the Nation, it can work for us.

YOU are out of your 'cotton pickin' mind. You must be one of those 'degenerate' gamblers that some other post mentioned.
#10 Mar 3, 2013
a casino will ACTUALLY cause a TOTAL economic disaster...do your history
#11 Mar 3, 2013
what do you mean by 'cotton pickin' and 'degenerate'?
Are you my Uncle Tom?
On one hand Cardillo is right. If Utica joins the nation we wont have to pay state taxes anymore like the rules of the Nation. " The Nation's future is secure.(apparently not) A business relationship with a strong financial parter is an alternative to New York State."
OK, screw NY, join the Nation?
His words, not mine.

The only reason the Nation is rich is because they have a casino. They don't want us to have one because the money would go into Utica and not Oneida.
We are talking about a boat, in an empty harbor.
What would you do with our pond?

In Cardillo's piece, he mentioned:
the Utica Zoo
Indoor water park ( My Favorite)
Harbor Point 5 times.
At least our Mayor can stay on topic. Cardillo wants to take the wealth of the area as his own political fodder. I can't say the same for Palmieri.
"Our location, infrastructure and aggressiveness make Harbor Point a logical location for a casino whose purpose is to rebuild the upstate economy by attracting downstate dollars."
Palmieri is on task, Cardillo is out to lunch.

"We should not compete...." -B. Cardillo
What American says this?
Cardillo is totally in the Nations pocket, because no Utican or American would ever start a sentence with 'we should not compete.'
Compete! Compete! Compete!
In Utica, we are scrappy and will not be bullied by a different nation.

If the Nation wants to participate in NYS politics, then they can start by paying back taxes. If they don't want to pay the back taxes, then they can stay clear out of our affairs. they buy more and more land with casino money and all Bob Cardillo can say is the 'Casino dollar is limited?' a 'crap shoot' with 'criminal elements'?
Why is the Oneida Nation the deepest pocket in the region?
Answer: because they have a casino.
Why would we deny ourselves something that has been enormously successful for them?
Watch the Nation bribe and brow beat the public and politicians. You can already hear them buying on-air objections to Utica's riverboat plan.
Nation go home. USA USA USA

who is really out to lunch here??? I will beg to differ, as YOU are the one having 'conversations' with yourself! LOL
#18 Mar 3, 2013
First gambling is NOT legal.
Second if Cuomo legalizes gambling Utica will not be a choice for a Casino.
This area has NO money, NO jobs, and people have not reason to come to Utica.
Turning Stone and Vernon already have the market and the infrastructure to draw in the gamblers.
Where would people rather go, to a plus Casino or a boat in a polluted harbor?
#19 Mar 3, 2013
I started the thread, I can say whatever. sure I'm out to lunch, big deal. I write more than you think. sorry for that. If you can tell me what the schools and the zoo have to do with harbor point, I'd like to know. I cant tell what the hell Cardillo thinks the schools and the zoo are going to do as partners with the Oneida Nation.
Do you really think they want to partner with Utica?
Yes, I'm pissed off our politicians work for another country. Is Cardillo recommending some new treaty? That was the drift of his drivel as I have demonstrated.

Coming to Utica soon is the Poopy waters Casino, where you can gamble and watch the City turds get chopped by the paddle wheel of poverty. Where the local Mayor will stand by willing and ready to tax every penny you earn. Where the politicians will spew their bull crap to add to the poopy in the water. Where the local Police and Fire Departments live in riches while the citizens live in poverty.

Read post 20, he says it all and is in the 'real world'....you are a dreamer and most likely a big gambler..You have demonstrated nothing as we seeit..just a bunch of warble with allyou 'answer yourself' posts.
