The Oneida Indian Nation has reached a deal with the state and Oneida and Madison counties ending decades of litigation over taxation and land claim issues.

The Nation and its Turning Stone Resort Casino will have exclusive gaming rights in Central New York, with 25 percent of the net gaming revenue going to the state.

The state then will provide 25 percent of the payment it receives to Oneida County. Initial estimates are this will amount to about $12.5 million annually.

A permanent cap of 25,000 acres of land – 8,000 in Madison County and 17,000 in Oneida County – will exist for land into trust.

After all, father Mario was the originator of the gaming compact that gave rise to the Oneida Indian Nation's Turning Stone, so why not have son Andrew finally iron out a deal to share the revenues. Too coincidental.

Yes, it is about time. How long until the lawyers for Oneida and Madison Counties squawk to kill the deal? After all, its been the lawyers making money off this controversy for decades now anyway.

hahaha!! When have you ever known government to let go of taxes? They get on that teat and its like crack to a crackho. Government sucking on the tax pipe!! They'll just find some way to justify NOT lowering taxes to pad expenses elsewhere.

You heard wrong. Oneida county will only end up getting about $2.5 million per year out of the deal. This is because the tax revenue will be shared by a 10-county Central New York region.

This isn't a done deal. It still has to be approved by the legislatures of Oneida and Madison counties as well as the New York State legislature.

Remember the last deal that Mr.Picente made with the OIN? It was defeated in the legislature.

"Oneida County will get $2.5 million a year and Madison County will get $3.5 million from the state's share of the Oneidas' payments."
Both right
"Oneida County, as the host county, will receive 25% of the state's payment (approximately $12.5 million based on current gaming revenues), and in addition will receive a $2.5 million annual payment from the state share to settle back property tax claims."
From the Governor's website.

Actually, if we have casinos then we should end lottery ticket sales. In Nevada, lottery tickets are not sold due to those casinos. As for conduct, anything goes because we do NOT have the strict gaming laws like Nevada and New Jersey has, until we do, anything goes when you're politically connected.

I think something bad has just happened here and it doesn't look good for anybody. I think I see the days ending for the time is getting near that my days of visiting are over.

Something doesn't seem right and the aura is getting dark.

The deal that was made was all about andy not about the people who live in CNY. The effect it has on this area will not tbe the least bit positive. I realize he is the governor but where are the checks and balances. He is nothing but a greasy hitler. He wants everyone to push for cleaning up corruption in Albany?? Perhaps they should start with little Hitler and then move on to Roanne who I am sure loves this deal by the way. I honestly believe that upstate should secede from NY state. You can think I am crazy but people upstate have no say in anything. I would love to see upstate become the 51st state and let Bloomberg and Cuomo handle the downstaters as that is where their votes are from and the downstaters are the only ones they care about. Look at all that was done at Vernon Downs, and now Cuomo agrees to something that will just ruin any plans for the future.

Ray H and the Oneida Indian nation just scalped Pisente and Cuomo. They received 25% of the slot action and 0% of the table action and that is where he big money is.now the nation will get to sell name brand smokes but the price will be he same as an off nation convience store so most people will still buy Seneca brand smokes. Vernon Downs is now in deep shit and will always be a small time operation until the Nation buys it up for pennies on the dollar. What Cuomo should have down was treated theNation like any other icountry and put toll booths up at all entrances and charge fees to enter and exit (just like we do with Canada and Mexico) This would have made Ray scream and offer up cash settlements quickly! Also charge the nation for all services that the 2 counties provide to them instead of giving it away! Ray H is laughing all he way to the bank at how he made the NY politicians look like fools!
