When this was first proposed cost for each ambulance $ 175.000, Now add staff over time per unit, all medical supplies per unit, Diesel fuel, maintenance of each vehicle, How much money does the ambulance bring into the city budget every year.

Ambulance service in general might not be a bad idea and if handled properly might even be a money maker but what is with them sending these humungous fire trucks on EMS calls? That can't be cost effective and seems down right absurd when you think about it. This is a blatant example of them wasting tax dollars for all to see, makes me wonder about all the waste of tax payer money that must go on that is hidden from us.

When you have UFD higher ups fabricating numbers and wasting important tax dollars along with mayors who have no balls to stand up to department heads and call for a stop to the bullshit you get a bankrupt city., this mayor can raise the taxes all he wants, people are not going to pay, the city is going to go down and out by summer.

Best, most revealing part is where they all debate calling a job done or waiting around another half hr and actually let taxpayers hear them making the usual snide comments with glee about how "Oh the taxpayers won't mind".

Listen. I propose the ambulance service can make money. Why not hire city emts to run the calls not the higher paid members of the UFD. Hire all part time emts like Kunkel has. No bennies and a reasonable hourly rate. If it was truly to make the city money it would have been set up in this fashion. Unfortunately, This program was set up to enrich UFD members and there pensions; and continue the empire building of a fire dept boss with illusions of grandeur.

That will open a floodgate of Workers' Comp claims and third-party lawsuits involving the city.

The budget calls for a tax increase of 3.75%. Now all the city has to do is collect the taxes. They are borrowing like crazy because the money is just not coming in. Bankruptcy is on the horizon and the Mayor knows it, he is just trying to bide time and make the budget look good. Utica is in deep shit. The wrecking ball is coming by summer. I hope the public safety workers that have no seniority have a little nest egg because they will be walking the streets very soon.

Check this out.
If palmier can tax and spend, maybe so many people will leave we wont be a city anymore!

The salvation for Utica is the elimination of City Government.

We already pay for fed, state, and county. Do we really need city government stinking up the joint?

Put a lock on city hall doors. Don't turn on lights. Utica has no money. Did anyone tell the mayor?

Remove all entitlements! No more Medicare, Medicaid, welfare, WIC or food stamps! Either pull yourself up by the boot straps or lay down in the street and die!

you are 100% right. I hate those firefighters and I can't wait to see their lives come crashing down on them. Serves them right for working for the city. It's about time, and we can sit back and enjoy the show. I can't wait to see a fireman in line at the grocery store with food stamps and a wic check to feed his kids. Those good for nothing bastards!

There is no need to hate firefighter, we just need to weed out the non resident blood suckers who think the world owes them a living. All Police and Firefighters should have to live in Utica. The problem is that they think because they live in the suburbs it makes them eager to criticize the people of this city who pay their salaries. I witnessed it for 20 years, Utica Taxpayers afforded me a living and I will always be greatful to them. The non residents firefighters and cops should thank their stars that they have a job with great pay and benefits, I just wish we could weed out the non resident cops and firefighters and hire city residents.
