I moved to the Utica area 15 years ago, and I agree there's a lot of strange things going on. Where I'm from, you don't buy tickets to a bachelor party; government jobs aren't for 'friends and family', Catholicism isn't the only acceptable religion, winners of 50/50 Raffles keep their winnings, and it is not acceptable to go to the grocery store in pajama bottoms. Why do I stay? I have a great job .... and no local could fill my shoes! SO THERE!

I am sure there are locals that could fill your shoes! The only thing is they are probably already employed.... If you disappeared tomorrow someone would step up and take your position.

Don't forget the old adage: Anyone can be replaced

I'm sure there are many locals who can fill your tap dance shoes......I bet your old home town you pay to park, travel an hour for a 5 mile trip, pay tolls out the ass, and think The Olive Garden is the best Italian food.

Any bridal fee shower, stag party, graduation party or christening is basically a fund raiser. You go to theirs because they came to yours. It's been going on since the beginning of time. And oh yeah if you're ih Utica they probably will serve tomato pie.

Believe me,if there was a local olive garden it would put these bosnian Italian restaurants out of business. The diplomat SUCKS,and the clientele has been the old has beens since the Alpine-Pathetic,they tell the same half truth stories too.

This is one occasion where I wish you would have to submit a picture with your comment. I'm guessing you're the George Costanza type and that you play with yourself more often than is healthy. Have one of the girls in your office vouch for your masculinity.

i dont get this...if one does not like utica then move elsewhere...with all your self-proclaimed talent, you should be able to move on to a place that suits your intellect and prowess. dont worry, utica will survive without you. its one of the oldest cities in the u.s. and has produced and exported as much talent as anyplace...e.g. steve wynn, annette funicello, roscoe conkling, general sherman, j.r. monterose, and on and on...i love utica grind, utica club, tomato pie, greens, etc. and i've been many other places here and abroad, have a graduate degree and run my own business. i just find this so insulting. i don't go around judging other places and their inhabitants as if i know all.

Mercedes with salvaged titles (my hubby came up with that one) thanks hun!

My favorite is this "Patrick" guy. He seems to know everything about every other place in the country. I guess he would like us to believe that he has lived in every single city in the rest of the nation and has a wealth of knowledge for comparison. Sure you do buddy.

Wooow. Central Jersey huh? Talk about a hot bed of class and sophistication. You can't get much more high brow than the goombahs in the great cultural Mecca of NJ. Real bunch of Rhodes Scholars there I tell ya. You're a goof. That must be why you qualified for that awesome job that sends you to such luxurious and exotic locations as CNY. Wow, way to live the dream pal. You've really got it all figured out. Good for you.

You left the "e" off. Its spelled "tomatoe". You must be thinking of potato. Anyhow, tomatoes were introduced to Italy sometime in the 1500's. This was long after the fall of the Roman Empire. You folks need to consult your dictionaries and history books.
