safe act registration numbers on assault type weapons

I've read on some web pages that the numbers are estimated at 3000 to 6000 registered, but the State of New York is not releasing their official count. Why is that ?
The state releases numbers on everything thing else that goes on here. Like names and address information on Handgun owners. So why not just release a number on how many signed up / registered. After all it's just a number.

Komrad Koumo is going to have to arrest thousands of his newly made felons. Wait until that embarresment starts. Maybe some 80 year old "felon" will get shot resisting. Think of what that will do to his disneyland political career. And in the meantime the real criminals will still have there guns because thats why they call them criminals.

The state police are not releasing the numbers because they're probably getting around 5-10% compliance statewide. The law-abiding gun owner's thinking is what NYS doesn't know won't hurt 'em. Here's what I think is gonna happen next. The state is gonna print out all the pistol permit holders of each county and go door-to-door reminding gun owners about compliance of the law and asking the permit holder if they have any assault weapons in the house. Since cops are trained in questioning people they can spot, thru body language, if that person is being deceitful. The cops will go on their way and return at a later date with a search warrant looking for the unregistered assault weapon. Their thinking is if you have a pistol you'll also have an assault weapon.

I can believe it. The Governor has his own way of doing things. It's his way and his way only. It's sad that he uses the power of his office for his own personal agenda. No different than his father I guess.

that's an amusing prediction. have you even heard or read the words of our sheriff? he's a reasonable man in law enforcement who's also opposed to the safe act. never mind. it would totally ruin your paranoid rant. carry on BB brain. LOL

A little much I agree BUT, when faced with you do this or you lose your job and pension...bad things can happen.

Why not release the number registered? What's the big deal on a
The State Police have no problem with jumping all over an arrest and claim it was the safe act that prompted it. Even though the Officer making the arrest has arrested other criminals for the same gun crimes in the past.
Can't figure their way of thinking on this or is it just to save face for the governor and the law, or better yet give them time to fudge the numbers in order to look good ?
