my kid was cut last week and while he might not be the top player that tried out he is certainly better than several who made it. I should mention that a couple players who did make it have parents who work for and coach for the district...big surprise..many parents saw and predicted it ahead of time. Nice life lesson for the kids.

.....and you turned to topix to vet your concerns? Feel sorry for your kid. Seriously, since he has parents that would rather bitch on topix, i'm betting you didnt spend much time with him over the winter to hone his skills. Maybe his skills are fine but inhereted your attitude, judged by the coaches to be obstructive to a positive team spirit?
Theres always senior league, or travel ball, to prove the coaches wrong. Best bet for your kid, excel wherever he ends up playing. Show everyone why he should have made it. Really, the coaches do want to win, if he proves himself they will take him next year. This year will be a invaluable lesson for your son, a life lesson, that hard work pays off, etc.....
Now, if you insist they picked worse kids, then I expect the team wont do well. In which case,, the coaches did your son a favor by sparing him and his stellar abilities from being mired among this band of losers in a miserable year of embarrasment and defeat.

Your welcome for the advise...

Some constructive criticism from you. But, you also act as though coaches are not influenced, at school level, by other coaches, administration, board members, or friends.

Very true, but again, prove them wrong. Prove they picked wrong kids by excelling at what you do, rather than bit ch ing about what others can or cant do.

In itself this is a life lesson. School, college, work, etc.....there will always be an insider with an edge over you, that can be overcome with hard work.

Exactly lol. as much as I appreciate the power of positive thought that "Coach" likes to mention, he clearly isn't operating in the real world. The life lesson here is that those well-connected people can get what they want for their kids while those most deserving can step aside.

Looks like "Coach" likes to assume he knows what he is talking about but he has lost touch with reality. He seemed to attack the wrong person and defend those that did wrong. Must be he has been guilty of being influenced in his selections so he defends it.

I didn't intentionally pick a side, and I'm not affiliated with any school sports program.

Honestly, what I'm trying to say is that you could turn this into a lesson for controlling your own destiny. Don't settle for anything less than your willing to fight for. And don't bitch when your not given something that you weren't willing to fight for.

U people are nuts.... plenty of places to play especially for 7th graders who get cut. Most can play Little League again. In all honesty, there isn't a coach in the Wboro district that has a clue anyhow..... How is it possible to have 2 very sucessful LL programs in Wtown and MD and have shit teams yr after yr with the exception being last yr? Decoursey is a joke, Cirasuolo=bigger joke. I watched games last yr at both the JV and Varsity level and Wboro teaches zero fundamentals... Leads were horrible, long swings, baserunning laughable...etc overall just shit coaching. Do they just throw BP, take infield/outfield and go home???? I know the kids can play but the little things and baseball fundamentals need to be taught by the coaches who obviously have no clue! Its very sad. If you took a kid like Kevin Green, Craig Kerner or any of the Proctor coaches and let them coach those our Wboro kids, Wboro would never lose in baseball.... Instead, they have a music teacher... Cmon folks

There isn't a positive lesson to be learned in nepotism and cronyism even at a young age. That "prove them wrong" is just ridiculous. This is the type of behavior that has the school district and the city in such a mess. What is the lesson, suck it up and try to get to know someone? That working hard and trying isn't going to get you anywhere, turn to your parents and family friends for a handout position on a team or even later a job. People like coach have some poor values and help maintain this stupid status quo.

what happens is those kids that are deserving quit. They turn away from baseball. They think they arent good enough. I know coach says to work harder and prove them wrong. Yeah, the parents will, but these are kids. They just say, Dad, I dont wish to play this yr. They work so hard only to get crushed.

One kid on the team didnt even make little league first time, another is just plain no good. Great kids, but others deserved it. But if your daddy or mommy arent a board member or a coach or a teacher, your cut. Why do teachers have to coach anyway?
Oh and by the way, the notre dame coach would not make whitesboro better.

When you say KG would not make your team better, you lose all cred in baseball. Obviously, you know nothing about the game, as it is taught to high school kids.

Let me start by saying this, my son is too young to try out for modified. However I have seen most of these players in the Whitestown,MD system. There is obviously a huge bias toward the Whitestown players. Off the top of my head I could name 4 MD all-stars which are very good players. 2 led the league in HR's last year. The other 2 were studs, they can pitch, hit, run like the wind. Really good overall players. All 4 were cut. Without naming names, 3 players from Whitestown were picked, all were involved in the LL program, 2 are coaches in the district. Based just on size, maturity, athleticism there is no comparison. From what I have heard, the tryouts were a joke, in 80 degree weather they only hit whiffle balls in the gym? This is just another embarrassing display from the Wboro athletic department. How can you look a kid or parent in the eyes who is 10x better than 25% of the team you kept. What lesson does this teach the players that were cut?
