If you are overweight and can't swim, why put yourself at risk of waves from boat traffic? Furthermore, how can you expect them to slow down for you? Do you speed up for them? Slowing down will often result in higher waves.

If you can't take the heat, stay off the water. Lakes are the Wild West and everyone needs to be a bit more careful!

and the next time im approached by dec while im fishing. I may loose it. first you step over garbage (pollution) to get to me. then you make it obvious that you don't even know what kind of fish, or what size fish you are "protecting". STOP! I go fishing to get away from badges< and guns (a police state). STOP BOTHERING ME!!

Fish and other animals have more rights than people. They r allowed an existence. We on the other hand are humans are also allowed an existence. The difference is, we are taxed by other humans and harassed by them as well to protect other species so they can enjoy a peaceful existence. Figure that one out?

90percent of the time. the fish are stocked, and do not reproduce!!!! if the dec cared about fish population. they would remove dames, or at least provide a passage for fish so they can reproduce. the dec does not care about fish population, or envirmental conservation. they want YOU to stay indoors, and allow the exploitation of our beautiful areas. why didn't the dec pick up the mattress on the side of woodgate drive for two months? why didn't the dec take the rusted barrel out of the black river for twenty years? don't worry we did.

Careful there you are talking bout Kayakers, paddlers. These arrogant arses are considered the anointed children of the Green God by the NYSDEC. Also include hikers, birders, cross county skiers and snow shoers. Your just boaters with those evil internal combustion engines. Your considered children of a lesser god.

Try having respect for your fellow man. Everyone has a right to enjoy the outdoors. Big power boats dont belong on small bodies of water. Take your big azx boat up to the St Lawrence.
Next you will say people riding bicycles are annoying.
You must have been ticketed for being a stupid fuk. What did you do?

Boating comes with right of way rules, just like driving. Those lakes are for everyone, so if you can't keep your boat and your speed under control and watch for swimmers and smaller boats, somebody needs to take your boat away from you and sell it. You're a selfish menace. If your wake endangers a kayaker, you're at fault.

BTW, didn't you know that in the water, an overweight person has a survival edge over any emaciated guy with big muscles? We're naturally buoyant and insulated. I can outswim jocks half my age, and I have. Unlike Mr. America, I don't need to put most of my energy into staying afloat. So you'd better be wearing that PFD if you hit a rock with your big, bad boat.

I'm also female. I kayak on lakes. I'm a big girl. Get over yourself. People who get their machismo from their boats usually don't have much else going for them.

Really? How is somebody "legally responsible" for their wake on open water? If that was the case, every freighter or cruise ship would be getting sued by some moron in a small watercraft. Get over your entitlement mentality and stereotyping of boat owners you cheap skate. I love paddle sports, but I'm the last one to blame someone for their wake. It's called personal responsibility! For whatever reason you are doing a paddle sport...be smart and stop looking to blame others. No one has any more rights on the water.

Kayaks and canoes have to follow the same Rules of the Road as defined in the USCG COLREGS. Kayaks are treated similar as power driven vessels and have to abide by those rules. Good article for kayakers who think they are priviledged in the inland waterways.

Great resources and right on point. I often see many boaters do their best to avoid these folks only to watch them shake their heads or display an obscene gesture. I've noticed a few times myself that's its better to travel at a higher speed a safe distance away in order to produce a lower wake. Slowing down often results in a higher wake. Just a thought!

Just in case you have not heard the Greenie paddlers, hikers, snowshoers and cross country skiers are very selfish people. There is six million acres in the ADK Park and they want it all for themselves. Three million acres are classified as wilderness. No motors allowed. The remaining three million acres are classified in various different classes. Most non motorized use. We all pay for the park but they want us dirty unwashed motorized sports completely out. And their want for more land never ends. Even when NYS is broke.
