Maybe he was home like alot of "good deputies" do. He did not demote himself from deputy to firefighter - he went from deputy to captain - not much difference other than not going into the burning buildings but wait UFD doesn't go into burning buildings anyway. Wasn't he the deputy the night of the James St. fire and I think Whitesboro St. too.
