I read the article on WKTV's website about Fiberdyne labs. I've been thinking about trying to get into this company because I see they are doing some really good things for the community. Does anyone have any advice on Fiberdyne Labs? How is the owner Peter Polus?

Three former employees of Fiberdyne Labs Inc. in Frankfort and a fourth man have been charged with conspiring to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars in business from the internationally known fiber optics company.

The following men were charged:

◦Matthew Paoni, 52, of Richfield Springs, the former Vice President of Professional Services for Fiberdyne who was in charge of the company’s Fiber Characterization Division.
◦Daniel Caiola, 30, of Frankfort, the former project manager for Fiberdyne’s Fiber Characterization Division.
◦Michael Caiola, 31, of Herkimer, a former Fiberdyne fiber characterization technician.
◦Ronald Scalise, 52, of Herkimer, who did not work for Fiberdyne but allegedly assisted the three Fiberdyne employees in forming a separate business called Trans World Fiber Optics, which was owned and financed by Scalise.

A couple of guys leave a company to start a competing company. What law was broken? Did they sign a confidentiality agreement?

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

All employees, when hired, are REQUIRED to sign a non-disclosure/confidentiality agreement that would result in an enforceable judgment of $300,000.00(Yes, that's the actual amount listed on the document)against the employee who breaches the agreement, in Peter Polus's favor. If the prospective employee refuses to sign this agreement, that person DOES NOT get hired, not even to work doing one of the many $8.00/hr jobs found there. FYI

Just needed to Add that over a year ago Peter Polus sued Dan Caiola over this exact thing and the judge threw it out

I worked there for 2 years and never signed this alleged doc, so... Plus this is an At-will state those docs never ever hold up in court!

Perhaps you signed it along with all of the other paperwork new hires have to fill out and sign, and didn't even realize it because you didn't bother to read it either in part or completely. I started working there in 2009 and had to sign it, later being told by coworkers that "The Old Man" is paranoid about competition of any kind springing up locally. I don't believe there is actually anything he can successfully do about new competitors, even if they are former employees, opening shop in the Mohawk Valley though, ours being the free-enterprise system that it is.

Whatever. Get over it. If the Old Man Polus paid his people better he wouldn't have to worry so much about competing with former employees some day. Oh, single-coverage medical benefits, if you want to purchase them from Fiberdyne's medical carrier--$6,000.00 per year!! The Old Man pays $0.00 towards any part of your annual premium. How can anyone working there making $8.00 an hour AFFORD to pay $115.00 per week for medical insurance through Fiberdyne's insurance carrier???????? Insane-I had to get out of there ASAP!!
